But those were also the days when ABC,CBS, and NBC had total power over news reporting (spin) and defining or creating American culture.

True, the monopoly on news was the bad side of the coin. The explosion of new media sources via internet/radio/cable, however, which seemed such a promising development in breaking this up, hasn’t exactly been paying off dividends over the past few years. I was optimistic over this development ten years ago... hardly anticipating a marxist-inclined president and a country swirling downhill in rapid decay right around the corner.
