The Tim Tebow era is over in New York.
The Jets have released Tebow, the New York Post is reporting.
Tebow was widely expected to be on the way out for months, and the only surprise is that the Jets waited until now to do it. One thing I noticed is his short passes tended to bounce, leading me to believe that he saw the opening, but in that lost millisecond of thinking of how to throw the ball, it closes, and he trys to hold up. Just let him go back to his natural motion, and see how that goes.

I think it's safe to assume that the Steelers were clued in about Tebow. They still couldn't beat him. Two of Tebow's four losses were against a very good Patriots team.

I think you're narrowly defining your criteria so as to reach your desired conclusion.

He threw a total of 8 passes for the Jets. Eight. As in the number of passes Tom Brady throws in a quarter.
Of the 44 running backs showing up on ESPN’s stats page, a 3.2 yards per carry would have him tied for 43rd place.

He threw a grand total of EIGHT passes all season long, did Tebow. You must think the rest of us are idiots pulling out that absurd stat in this context. And mentioning the number of games he played in as though he were a regular.
Let’s look at it another way.
He appeared in 12 games, throwing 2/3rds of a pass each game he appeared in.
He completed 1/2 pass per game he appeared in.
I cannot believe he’s not already in the HoF.

Manning had the full support and backing of Denver management. Their support of Tebow was insincere at best. They were probably upset that he ruined a very good draft position, too.
I don't understand the point you're trying to make. Manning had an extra week of rest and lost to a 10-6 team. Tebow won against a 12-4 team.
He beat a 12-4 teams that by the time OT hit had only one starter left of their front 7. And Manning lost to the eventual SB champs. But the point is when you tout Tebow’s 1 playoff win vs Manning’s you ignore the fact that Manning didn’t have to play in the round the Tebow won. He won enough games to get a bye, didn’t play in the wild card round. In the end both lost in the divisional round, basically the same level of achievement, except Manning wasn’t terrible in the regular season. Any QB that goes multiple starts completing less than 10 passes (like Tebow) stinks, period. you just need to accept reality, he got a shot, he stunk, he got another shot, he stunk some more, now nobody is picking him up on waivers. Looks like he’s done in the NFL, not because of any bigotry, which is an absurd claim (if the league is so bigoted explain Warner, and White, and Polamalu, and Lewis, and Sanders... Tebow is no where near the only openly Christian player), but because he is simply not an NFL caliber QB.

Tebow had a winning record (8-5) and won a playoff game with a team that started 1-4. He doesn’t stink. I would hardly call his stint with the circus called the Jets, a “shot.”
47.9 percent completions. Multiple games with less than 10 completions. He stinks. A large part of his winning had to do with the defense shaving 15 points off their points allowed. You subtract 15 points from the opponents scores in Orton’s games he goes 4-1 and Tebow never gets a start.
He was there, he practiced, that was his shot. What he showed them was just enough to wind up 3rd on the depth chart (same spot he landed in Denver actually). Teams evaluate their talent and set the chart accordingly, if the best you can manage is 3rd, on two different teams with lousy QB, you probably stink. If he didn’t stink somebody would have traded to get him from the Jets, but even his hometown said “no thanks”.
In other words, Tebow is no statistical circus freak winning in spite of himself. Tebow's Broncos are winning because he consistently outperforms the opposing quarterback when you take into account all aspects of production: passing, running, sacks, total touchdowns, interceptions and fumbles. In fact, he consistently outperforms them by a wide margin.Tebow is an above average QB. Considering his youth and the lack of real support from management, he did great.Denver is 5-0 when Tebow produces a higher Real QB Rating than the opposing quarterback and 0-1 when the other team has the advantage. And those results are no coincidence.
After all, it turns out that no stat in football outside final score -- indeed, maybe no stat in North American sports, period -- is more important than Real QB Rating this season when it comes time to separate winners and losers.

Tebow was brought in to run the wildcat, a formation that stopped working two years ago when Sparano was with the Dolphins. It's the Jets who stink, not Tebow.
Or they just gelled. Or they just went against terrible opponents. Some selective stats in that story. They talk about his QB ratings in weeks 7 - 12 (presumably when the story was written), but ignore other stats like the fact that his completions for those final three games were 2, 9, and 9.

So sure in week 10 he had a rating of 102.6. But he got that rating only throwing the ball 8 times and only completing 2 passes. With that little actual QBing his rating means nothing, what matters there is 8 attempts, the rest of the team won that game, he just happened to be the handoff guy.
No Tebow is NOT an above average QB. He is a TERRIBLE QB. 47.9% career completions is NOT above average, it’s PATHETIC.
It’s not either/ or, both the Jets AND Tebow can stink. In fact if you take as a given that the Jets stink and have shown a significant trend of picking poor players the fact that they traded for Tebow helps indicate that he stinks, because if they regularly picked above average players they wouldn’t stink.
Tebow was 8-5 with a big playoff win in 2011 on a team that started 1-4, and with insincere support from management. He is above average.
Tebow is over-rated by some. He’s a fantastic guy to have in the locker room, plays at 125%, fans love him, but the fact remains, he is not an accurate passer.
Room for him as a passing halfback may be found. Hopefully.
