Jets Cut Tim Tebow

The Tim Tebow era is over in New York.

The Jets have released Tebow, the New York Post is reporting.

Tebow was widely expected to be on the way out for months, and the only surprise is that the Jets waited until now to do it. The arrival of rookie quarterback Geno Smith in the second round of the NFL draft may have been what it took for the Jets to decide that there was simply no room for Tebow on the roster anymor

Yes, especially in NY. I believe Tebow was done wrong by Denver and Elway (no freaking loyalty at all) and the Jets, who only brought him in to sell tickets a some kind of side show freak. I will go one step further and say that I believe there was a conspiracy of the two GM’s to keep Tebow off the field and to diminish him as a starting QB anywhere.

I don’t see how anyone could have been worse than Sanchez. I believe there is a lack of imagination among coaches for the Jets. Tebow could have been utilized but wasn’t. Too bad.

I don’t see how anyone could have been worse than Sanchez.

A case could be made that they brought Tebow in to make Sanchez look good and boost his performance. If that was the goal they only half-succeeded.

Tebow was brought in to run the wildcat, an unusual formation that NFL defenses figured out how to defend two years ago. The Jets are just plain stupid.

NFL teams don’t give a crap about his “outspoken Christianity.” Do you ever watch football? Murderer Ray Lewis is an “outspoken Christian.” EVErYONE is an outspoken Christian in the NFL.

They cut him because he’s useless to them. They manner in which he was cut was simply due to the the fact that they wanted to wait until after the draft and because no one would ever trade anything or anyone for him.

BS. Tebow just doesn't have the mechanics to be a quality starting NFL quarterback. No one wants to build their franchise around him. He's just not very good. There are LOTS of Christians in the league - many extremely successful. Tebow's troubles have nothing to do with that.

Pro sports is a great equalizer. If Tebow can really help a team win, they will try to get him. Tebow has a winning personality and a good attitude, if he can accept a backup or 3rd string role he will likely be signed by someone.

Tim Tebow looked like a left handed Joe Montana when he beat my Steeler's in the playoffs.

Early reports had Tebow backing up Smith and Sanchez on his way out.

The Cold Hard Football Facts website, extrapolating from Tebow’s limited 2012 statistics, suggested that he was better than 14 other starting quarterbacks in the NFL (including Sanchez). I watched him here in Denver and it seemed to me that team play picked up as a whole when he stepped on the field. That’s leadership. As to practice, some players are good practice players and not so good on-the-field players, or bad practice players and much better on-the-field players. As far as his “Christian” antics, how many players do you see every week who acknowledge God after a touchdown or a great play? Plenty! Tebow was just more outspoken. Anyway, I hope Tebow gets a shot somewhere next year, but if not, I’m sure he’ll get along okay.

For sure it's an apples and oranges comparison but if free agency in the NFL doesn't work out for Tebow, I'm sure a CFL team would be interested in him if for no other reason that increased sales.

Tebow’s skills seem particularly well-suited to the CFL game IMO. That would not only give him the chance to spread the Gospel in the Great White North, but if he wins a couple of Grey Cups it may re-open some NFL eyes, a la Doug Flutie.
