HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a Good Samaritan who tried to intervene in a fight between two groups of teens in Huntington Beach Saturday evening, was nearly beaten to death by the same teens who attacked him with their skateboards.
Police say 40 teens attacked the 25-year-old man — about 7:50 p.m. — at Murdy park in Huntington Beach. The man is in extremely critical condition.
Officials said the man’s girlfriend saw the teens involved in an altercation.
After the girlfriend tried to intervene, the crowd turned on her. She got away but returned with her boyfriend. Police said the teens than turned on him.
The man tried to flee to a nearby laundromat where the attack continued, said police.
Huntington Beach Police said on their Facebook page that four juveniles were arrested for attempted murder. All four are currently on probation for other crimes and have been taken to Orange County Juvenile Hall, said authorities.
Police said more arrests could come soon.
The Good Samaritan was transported to UCI Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery.
KCAL9′s Tom Wait spoke to witnesses who observed the brutal beating.
Sandy Nguyen, who works at the nail salon two doors down from Surf City Coin Laundry, said, “I was so scared. So I locked the door. They used their skateboards to beat the boy in the head.”
Witness Erik Yslas saw a group of kids run through the parking lot. “I saw four people running into the parking lot, didn’t know what was going on at first. I spin to my left and saw all the cops right there.”
Dave Sumner said, “It looked like every cop in Huntington Beach was here, seemed like. At 11:30 [p.m.] there were still a lot of cops all over the parking lot.”
The victim’s identity is being withheld while police continue the investigation, said the Huntington Beach authorities.
Exactly. Especially in SoCal.
Like she can’t call the police/911 on her ever-ready cell phone, and have THEM intervene instead of her man.

She wasn’t arguing with Hell’s Angels, she hoped to stop kids from hurting each other. Big difference.
“(as she’s getting dressed to leave the new guy’s place in the morning.)” So you suggest that she’s a slut because creeps beat her boyfriend up? Maybe this changes her life forever and she relives the day, wishing she hadn’t run frightened and crying to the man she loved, wishing he hadn’t been such a good samaritan (i.e., voluntarily offering his help in times of trouble). After they turned on her, she probably didn’t want her boyfriend to go against those odds. Don’t men have the ability to say ‘no’?
She’s not the evil one here unless they provide info to the contrary. The yutes who beat a man for trying to help them are the problem.

I will attest to that. HB used to be like Newport, where I “quick surf” from here in Hollywood, but it looks like Tijuana every year.
I live in Cali and trust me ‘fights’ are not what they used to be. A fight now almost always involves a knife or a gun. I have learned that if I see anything even close to trouble to turn the other way and get out fast.

During my surfing days in high school here, we held skateboarders is low repute.
Back then, skateboards were for inlanders an those guys that counldn’t surf.
So the fact they have turned out to be scum in your words, is no surprise.

And for what? To stop two the Jets and the Sharks from having a rumble.
And i got a bridge to sell you if you think she’ll be there to nurse him around for the rest of his life, especially if he is in a coma, a wheelchair, can’t speak, etc. She’ll make it into a drama about how she was the victim (lost her BF ya know) and leave him in her wake.

Damn, I used to skateboard at Murdy Park. And yeah, these kids aren’t “Amish” as there are no real concentrations of “Amish” in OC. I’m guessing the perps were white/Latino/asian. Oh, and stupid.

Bada bing! Changed HER life forever? HER life? He’s the one with the shattered skull in extremely critical condition.
And i bet she will indeed relive that day, again and again. And she’ll tell her new guy all about it by the end of the summer. And she’ll tell him how it “like, totally changed her life”.
Thats the way to bet. But maybe im wrong, maybe she’ll get a job, marry him so he can have her health insurance, and then dedicate her life to getting him through rehab, and then taking care of his special needs. (surrrrre, she will)
