CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: It's clear that that the press has turned. I'm not sure how permanent it will be but this is surely different than what we've seen over the four years being acolytes and cheerleaders and really supine. And the reason I think, a, is the accumulate of scandals all at once and the remarkable coincidence that the president was speaking early on about conspiracies and don't worry about government, tyranny, you know. The IRS scandal, which is the second most powerful agency in government as an agent suppression of political speech is almost a definition of tyranny. But that is number one.
The second is this: they really feel they were swindled by the president and by Jay Carney on the talking points. Whether it's the most material thing in the world is now irrelevant, but they were told again by Carney and then last week he repeated it that there was no editing from the White House and State Department. He only could do that by redefining the word 'edit.' These are journalists who know what editing is. If somebody outside of your editor said strike that line, and you strike it, Carney would saying there was no editing because you had it in the final edition. Everybody understands that is absurd, ridiculous, patronizing and insulting. And they were on the receiving end of that and that will cause a big change in how you look at the White House and how you hear every word that the president or Carney says. Until someone goes to jail for abuse of power, Obama has gotten away with it.
They can (and likely will) turn back just as quickly. If they start seeing Obama having polling problems they will find a way to either ignore the IRS, Benghazi and even the AP wiretaps or blame the Republicans for those scandals.
CK, I have news for you. the Press has NOT turned on Obama. Obama has the same end goal as most in the press -- destruction of our Republic.
In a month after this AP scandal passes, the Press will be back in full destroy ALL Conservative mode/
The Marxist Press will be even more rabid destroying conservatives because they will try to show Obama they are on his side and that they can be truly trusted to do his bidding and not have to be illegally investigated by the one.
In other words, the press is not turning because this administration is corrupt and untruthful, they are turning because the press has been mistreated. Carney lied directly to them and DOJ is throwing subpoenas at them. That’s not as serious as the murder of an American Ambassador by our enemies, but if that brings them to the party . . .
It is just a facade so they can go full court for the 2014 and win him both house and senate. Everything coming from DC is scripted and planned.

I hope the Hammer is right on this—a week will tell—If the scandals keep coming—Obama is Finished. If a new set of Distractions happen, Like Rush Linbaum is running a brothel or something, them Obama MIGHT repair the damage.
Obama's stock is going down and they've got enough of it that they can sell a little off.
They're still very much invested in his positions and they'd love to crow "Obama is back!," but holding onto him too tightly now may drag them down as well, so for tactical reasons they're creating a distance between Obama and themselves.
It’s not the accumulation of scandals, it’s the bugging of AP phones. These guys finally realize that they too can be in the crosshairs.

I have no doubt that the AP and the rest of the ministry of propaganda are looking for any reason to forgive their master and come back to him, tail between their collective legs.

No other scandals need come.
