Retired 4 stars maintain significant connections throughout DoD and Intel communities.
The kidnap of Stevens would have been portrayed as his own mistake.
This would have provided cover for Obama’s desire to keep his MB friends happy, by returning the Sheikh.
The whole point of all of the turmoil in the MidEast is to destroy America’s interests and business base in the area.
Remember, Obama is the ultimate anti-colonialist, who believes our access to those resources is corrupt and ill-gotten.
Oh, did I mention he hates America and Capitalism?

I think that this story takes the Admirals words out of context. Here's what he said in an interview with Roger Arnoff for Accuracy in Media when asked about Benghazi:
Right. First, yes, I appreciate the opportunity to clarify because, first of all, Ive never talked to The Washington Examiner. Where this came up: I was on Lou Dobbss show, and somebody must have copied down from that show, maybe submitted a report or something, to The Washington Examiner. Lou asked me, What do [you] think went on? What [do you] suspect happened? I said, Well, if I had to speculate, I believe this was a bungled, a bungled attacka kidnapping attack, to kidnap Ambassador Stevens, and hold him in exchange for the Blind Sheikh. You know theres been a lot of pressure, certainly from [Egyptian President Mohamed] Morsi; thats one of his objectives, to get the Blind Sheikh released. Now, again, [Dobbs] asked me what I thought, and I speculated, because nothing else made sense to me.
Seems like a non-story to me.

Uh, the US does not negotiate with terrorists or kidnappers.
If Obama got away with this, his approval would drop, not rise.
It takes a really sick individual to think kowtowing to terrorists is something to be admired.

As news of the Benghazi attack hit the wires and was picked up by FR, IIRC, the “video” lie was already in place.
I pulled up the YouTube of the video, and I seem to recall it having only 3 or 400 views.
The news from the previous day.
There was an AP report/story about the Cairo Protests and the reporter suggested the Cairo action was in response to the video.
IIRC, at Approx. 12 midnight Eastern standard time, the day before Benghazi the State dept. released a statement on their website attributing the Cairo protests to this video.
At this point, we have no idea if the video was truly the trigger for Cairo or if it was pinned to Cairo by the AP as a result of what State had released.

I was unsuccessful tracing the FR time line of the "Innocence of Muslims" video, as I agree that the # of views were only in the hundreds early on.
That would be a useful thread . . .bringing those historic, well documented details back up.
Thanks.

This would have provided cover for Obamas desire to keep his MB friends happy, by returning the Sheikh. Yes, but I don't see how that would have helped his chances of reelection.

I also went back to Sept 11 2012 among my posts and couldn’t find the details.
I just know that I was online the evening of the Benghazi attacks, and the first thing I did was to search out the video. Literally within a few minutes of the “breaking news” that evening.
When I saw that the video only had a few hundred views and how retarded the video was, I discounted it as a factor and didn’t think to log or document it.
In retrospect, it wasn’t until a few days later that I found the AP story and the State dept’s news release.
All I can say is that when news of the Benghazi attack broke, the video lie was in play.
That’s what I remember.
If that is true, the re-writes of the talking points would reflect, not a last minute effort, but a desire to maintain a narrative that was previously established.
A narrative that was more than likely established by the State Dept.

Not by itself.
But, for the appearance of a “low cost” resolution of the kidnapping of our Ambassador.

This story seems consistent with Obama hubris. It is consistent with the media milieu which would have offered cover for obama. It is consistent with the PRE-election period when there was much talk in the media in general regarding allowing the blind sheik go home, but was ultimately not pardoned because of the New York backlash against such inanity. It is consistent with the the appointment (later) of a muslim to the CIA directorship. It is consistent with obama asserting page 261 in "The Audacity of Hope"...(when the political winds shift ugly I will go with the muslims). It is consistent with a revolving door policy at the White House to allow terrorist and the Muslim Brotherhood visit when they chose to visit. It is consistent with the REFUSAL of obama to kill those we know perpetrated the attack in Benghazi, who, to this day, walk freely in Libya.
BUT HOW DO YOU PROVE IT?
Even obama is not so cock-sure of himself as to leave any kind of paper trail, if this scenario actually happened. I can envision personal communication by Obama ( or close surrogate) with the muslim brotherhood to carry off this alledged kidnapping. I can envision obamas refusal to kill the perps of the attack letting obama know via back-channels that they have taken steps to assure this information is made public if anything happens to them, thus neutraling obama from even attempting to kill them.
BUT HOW DO YOU PROVE THESE ALLEGATIONS?
