Weather here in west Michigan has been great and regular rain too. I water everything by hand so I love to hear a good rain at night. I hope to have some pictures soon, irises are just starting to open, everything in the garden coming up well. Mulched the broccoli and tomato plants today with lots of goat bedding. Basically oat straw with lots of goat poop. Have some red raspberry canes to move - they have grown where I don’t want them to go. Love reading everyone’s posts.

Yes it is Mr. Bender! I can’t wait to get back to our home and my garden space - but am hating to make the physical move. Big Work!

My wife thought it would be a good move to move near her sisters and other family members - A big Not! We were invited to dinner one evening by her older sister and it was the biggest disaster - I told Mrs Red Devil I would never go back. So when we were invited back she went without me because I told her to tell them I was at an reserved time at the local Firing range getting acquainted with my pistols.

Apparently I have lost more brain cells then I ever had as it appears Flikr has hidden the SHARE button on my photo page and I can't ever find the "image location" for html tagging. HELP ME BEFORE I HARM MYSELF!!!

“...hired 2 guys for $150.00. It took them 6 hours to power wash my 1,800sf house, the porch and decks. It would have taken me six weeks.”

I just need the upper deck done - it is just black with crap on it. It needs to be sealed but I don't think son will be here long enough to do that in June. He will be back again in September so maybe with all that, he could manage to seal it in September.

So many things to do, so little time.

Yeah I loved that poke! My range time was actually scheduled for the next day but I was not going to her sister’s house for dinner and my wife did not try to push it any further!

“So many things to do, so little time”. Well said Marcella. Story of my life. Have to continually remind myself that the garden police are not going to haul me off to jail if the garden isn’t perfect. Sheesh!

It has been a nice week here in middle Tennessee. Warmer and dry. Got the sweet potatoes (Beauregard) and the regular potatoes planted last weekend. Have never grown regular potatoes before. I need to be more like Marcella and read up on this :). I’ve heard covering/mulching is in order. Got the cantaloupe planted. Will plant the tomatoes this weekend. Am growing mortgage lifters and trying out “celebrity” for the first time. Plus a fair amount of faithful Roma’s. Got some peppers and sunflowers planted.
Hoping to have time to fuss with my roses. They need pruning, spraying, fertilizing and mulching. Plus 8 flats of impatiens sitting in trays next to the garage need planting.

Lord I need a clone. Or 6 weeks off work to get caught up. Oh well. It ain’t a perfect world

Sure enjoy hearing everyone’s gardening experiences. Happy gardening!!

Mock orange was my first thought. There are different varieties.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. All big tasks can be broken down into smaller segments. My raised beds allow me to garden in 10 minute increments.

So when I get really lazy or really sick and/or tired. I decide which ten minute task I will do. Sometimes, after I get going for just that ten minutes, I feel better and decide to just do another ten and so forth.

Sometimes I just make do with one ten minute chore and then go rest. I am not going to kill myself gardening-that would defeat the purpose.LOL

Oh NO. I would help you if I could, but I didn’t even understand a bit of what you just said. I am so technologically challeneged. Red Devil had to almost draw me a picture before I could even figure out how to post the thread.LOL

Is that mallow plant actually hibiscus? Can you make some tea from the flowers?

They are beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.

How are you doing tonight. Storms are out all over the place. Holiday Inn at Earth City got hit and toranado went right through the St. Louis Metro area. Headed right between the hospitals in West County.

We are still being advised to monitor the situation, since a line is advancing our direction and something could still develop. So far it’s all North of us.

I’m not sure. It is very hardy tho. Reseeds itself. Drought tolerant. What fascinates me is its root system. It has one big taproot like a ginormous carrot or something. I bought one plant many many years ago. These things now pop up everywhere. It tends to develop something that looks like rust spots on the leaves later in the season. It can grow up to a couple feet tall. Looks good along the fence or in the back of a flower bed since it can get so tall.

It really annoys me not to be as helpful and vigorous as I used to be a few years ago!

Welcome to the club. I have hip problems every so often, and sometimes I can’t even get up the stairs with out dragging myself up with my arms on the railing.

I also have osteopenia in lumbar spine. Physical therapy has helped me a lot. I can put on socks again, and while the stairs are hard, I no longer have to drag myself up.

They have given me a plan to continue working on at home to keep my range of motion and continue to improve.

Hope you are able to get better with your hip.

Ye gads...last week I had to shelter all my pepper and tomato plants from cold and snow; six days later; I have to shelter them from a blazing sun with temps at 93...make up your mind.
