What if the federal government decided to confiscate all civilian firearms? Would you surrender your guns? Would your friends and neighbors turn you in? Do enough Americans remain who are willing to risk their lives resisting disarmament? Would the military support the government, or the people, or both?
What if the Supreme Court rules disarmament is constitutional? Would sheriffs who previously swore to resist unconstitutional firearms laws decide to support disarmament after such a ruling?

I don't think forcible mass confiscation is how it is likely to go down. What has happened elsewhere is a gradual tightening of the law, registration of the guns, incremental confiscation of first one type, then another. Sales of guns and ammunition banned outright. Draconian penalties for disobedience, test cases that are show trials. Rinse and repeat. In time, yes, most of the innocent can be disarmed. Not the criminals, ever.
Because they cannot bust down 30 million doors at once.
We will all know when it is about to commence anyways - judging by the recent flurry of scandals, they are borderline incompetent at OPSEC.....
If SCOTUS ever ruled something that insane it would be CWII immediately. The whole South would erupt. NE maybe not so much but try to imagine gun confiscation in Texas. Yeh that’ll happen. Right after they get the guns from GA.
Perhaps the folks you are referring to are not the violent type; after all, they have been taught all their lives that “violence solves nothing”.
On the other hand there are those of us who have read enough history to know that violence is, and always has been; the ultimate authority.
Most of us who know this important fact of life; have also been taught and trained in the use and application of violence/force in order to achieve a specific goal. In this case, the goal is personal freedom.
Guns? I have no guns. Seems a crazy pair of raccoons broke into the house while I was out on a whale-saving voyage, and they made off with grampa’s antique horse pistol. No guns here.

Yep, here in Texas, the feds would get zero cooperation for law enforcement for any gun grab. I tell ya it’s damn coincidence, all my firearms fell in the lake a few years ago.

History supplies many answers to such questions.
Look at the resistance in Europe to The German occupiers. Many just went along, a few didn’t.
Look at prohibition... Alcohol became even more available because it was looked upon as a desirable thing specifically because of its Illegality. Perhaps especially because it was constitutionally banned via an amendment. One of our most prominent political dynasty’s became rich specifically through providing Alcoholic beverages through bootlegging and the profits derived from that trade.
Let’s say that Guns are made illegal... I would expect the same thing would occur and perhaps more. The intended and unintended consequences of any such actions would be far reaching indeed. Personally I pray we never see this happen.
In any case, the pendulum of societal change swings. From one extreme to another. In some cases from Barbarism to Civilization and back. From others; from Freedom to slavery to Freedom again.
I’m musing here but... Perhaps this explains the fascination with zombies movies and civilization collapse stories, novels and movies. As we move closer and closer to a worldwide tyranny, (one way or another), the people want to see it torn down. Perhaps they see more individual freedom in chaos and barbarism than they do in highly structured societies where they feel like their freedom to express themselves is in a straitjacket. And be y freedom to express themselves I also include the desire to work, have a family and just be left alone to do so in peace.
My predicition for the future:
(1) They are fully aware that The People will NOT go “gently into the night”.
(2) They already are willing to write off 30 or so MILLION of The People as unmanageble.
(3) They know that they CANNOT possibly confiscate ALL the weapons in private hands.
(4) The simple solution is to dry up the supply of ammunition so that AFTER the 30 million have been dealt with, there is no ammo left or available for the remaining Sheeple. There is NO way for any rmeaining resistance to “manufacture at home” enough ammo to mount any serious resistance.
GAME END, THEY WIN.
PS Once again I remid y’all that my parents, of the “Greatest Generation”, after finding out about the commie/world domination threat up close andpersonlly, predicited much of what is going down today as the water the frogs are swimming is is slowly coming to a boil.
The predictions from over 50 years ago included one, which according to an AP report recently filed by Katharine Zaleski, will FINAllY be accomplished by 2042 - namely that White people will no longer constitue the majority of Americans ..... The goal is one homogeneous, malleable, totally lacking individuality and/or nationality and/or racial differentitaion population of sheeple, toiling away for their lords and masters, without question or resistance.
Unfortunately, the servants have morphed into masters.

Use it for Aunt Nancey’s tuna casserole recipe , Knock knock jokes,limericks, rude jokes . Get active with the TEA party & encourage them to use computer encryption for planning & strategy sessions .
This will make it really hard for the rats to get a early warning & it will frustrate the government snoops.

The older we get, the more firm we should stand for the rights of future generations. My best years are behind me. It is up to each individual which they fear worst, death or cowering under tyranny.

Do you really and truly believe there is a future for them? For the life of me--and I'm in a distinct minority here, I know--I cannot understand why anyone conversant with all the threats to liberty that they are now so obvious, would want to reproduce, knowing the kind of world their children would face.
I can’t know the future. I read Bible prophecy for end times. I read the financial columns every day. Sure it looks grim. It looked grim for those who fought in WW1 too. They fought anyway. Many died for their country so that we could reap the benefit. Should we do any less?
I envy your optimism, but this time, with the population that would elect someone like Barack Obama president, I don’t think we have the sufficient number of patriots to reclaim what the USA once was.
The people we had during World War I were many cuts above what we have now.
