It was a well-intentioned compliment that took Adam Dolgin aback. The Toronto dad had taken his then-nearly 2-year-old daughter out for breakfast on a Saturday while his wife was at work. He sat with another dad he knew, out with his son. An older woman at another table kept looking over throughout their meal. On her way out she stopped to tell them how proud she was of them for being great dads.

Both my parents have passed now. In my case, my dad was the breadwinner and the parent that helped me the most. Interesting, because my son had sole custody of his kids for years, he has now been married to a very nice woman for several years but just today he told me that she thinks because he’s a man he’s an incompetent parent and gets upset when he takes control and it works. I told him she watches too much TV.
Heh.

Madison Avenue pushes that caricature (as long as the dad is white) almost as hard as its other sick agenda items. Every time a television is turned off an angel gets his wings.
Kinda makes you wonder when we’ll see television commercials with men helping the kids out with things while their mother drinks a large triple skinny vanilla latte while obsessively checking facebook and pinterest on her iphone.
That’s the same analogy I gave my son. I believe in the individual, no matter the gender,race, etc.
Even their "Dude Food for Dad" was lame, not a steak in the listing, but a metro-PBJ? UGH!
