Hollywood’s Latest Bomb? ‘White House Down’ Struggling at the Box Office
Variety ^ | June 28, 2013

Less than a month after Will Smith’s “After Earth” crashed at the box office, Sony finds itself in another predicament with Roland Emmerich’s “White House Down.”

The $150 million action thriller, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, is the studio’s most expensive film of the summer but may debut as poorly as fourth place this weekend with a projected $27 million.

Not only are the early estimates soft for a project Sony bought in a record spec deal for $3 million in 2012, it’s actually worse than this year’s other White House thriller, “Olympus Has Fallen,” which opened to $30.8 million for FilmDistrict on a much smaller budget ($70 million).

movies should come with a money back guarantee.

at least the ability to “jump” to a better movie.

This will be on dvd by the end of the month and in the bargain bin one week later.

Tom Selleck should be handed money and carte blanch to reboot this fiasco. The writers and directors should have to publicly appologize and return all monees as well as make a 50 million donation to the sarah palin foundation.

Bunch of Evil Paramilitary White People going after the Black President.

I will not see any movie featuring me Jamie ("I get to kill all the white people, how cool is that") Foxx. Ever. Even the next Spider Man, where he plays Electro.

It’s not about whether the movie is good or not. It is the bigger message here...stop funding black racists and Hollywood hypocrites who make it their mission to brainwash the American people into thinking people like you and I are the enemy within and do everything in their power through social indoctrination on their tv channels and through their movies and media...to suppress people like the one’s here on FR and around the country...you know...the other 175 million who are painted as complete moronic lunatics by the likes of Jamie Foxx who is a devout racist and black radical.

Stop feeding the beast. You want to watch the movie? Wait for it on HBO if you have that. Supporting pictures by these scumbags at the theater’s just gives them reason to keep making more “right winger’s are evil” flicks.

Conservatives never make movies but sure do complain.

Most of your posting shows you have a visceral hatred of Conservatives. Why are you on this site? What is your DUmp name? Your arrogance reveals your true nature.

Good. I will NEVER watch another movie with Jamie Fuxx in it. He is a race obsessed, uh, racist. (sorry) With all of his success in Hollywood, he still feels the need to play the act of the the ungrateful angry black male. Keep it rill, Jamie.

Google “Jamie Foxx” and “down low” and you’ll see why he needs to act like a militant.

I am going to see it again with all 6 of my family members. Thank you for the opportunity to prove how good a movie it is. I loved it. Sorry it was too in depth for you. It must be tough to watch Sesame Street everyday and not be able to advance from that.

They made the biggest bomb in the history of movie making. An American Carol.....I would go see anything compared to that crap.

Phew...yeah, that was a HORRIBLE movie. I think I turned it off before it was over, and I don't do that often.

This movie could be fun in the usual way that an Emmerich film is so bad it's good, but Jamie Foxx? He was hands-down the worst part of "Django Unchained" racist comments in the media aside. I also think he overestimated his heroic stature in the movie. Christoph Waltz acted circles around him and was most definitely the hero of the film. Tarantino had to kill him off and reboot the end of the movie in order to remind us that it wasn't called "Schultz Unchained."

Too bad the Jaime Foxx from "Ray" couldn't show up more often. He was great in that.

Christoph Waltz acted circles around him

I thought Christoph Waltz was great in Django Unchained. He did act circles around Jamie Foxx considering Christoph won the Oscar. I did not see Ray at all. I really don’t like Jamie Foxx myself but I did see White House Down because the movie looked great. I went and saw it and was happy that it was so good. My family went yesterday and want to go again today. I was not really up to it but after some of the smears I got today from FREEPERS no less, we are going. The thing about this movie is that you can take the entire family without fear of cursing and sex. Some FREEPERS don’t mind the cursing and sex but I am not taking my teenagers to a movie like that. That is why it is so nice to finally have a family movie out that does not involved a puppet or cartoon.

Dumbass, I don’t care if you see it again. I don’t care if you see it with 80 relatives. I don’t care if you think it is the most amazing movie of all time. I’m just telling you what the media is doing as shown in an interview with an actress from the film. For some reason, this simple fact is beyond your ability to understand. You’re a moron.

Partly a celebration of Obama, it's also a barely-disguised message directed at the sitting president, instructing him to peel off the president suit and unleash the hero within. '

Too bad there is no "there" there

I am seeing it in your honor. You are the lone reason. Had you not been nasty then Jamie Foxx would not get another 100 dollars in his pocket. It is ALL YOUR FAULT!!!! Congratulations! Of course you will be too arrogant to believe such a thing or even believe it is your fault. Most self evolved people feel that way. I just hope that you get your soul in order before you pass away. I will pray for your though.
