(CNSNews.com) - First Lady Michelle Obama is promoting walking to school as part of her anti-obesity campaign. In remarks to mayors gathered at the White House last week, the first lady singled out Knox County, Tenn., which – inspired by Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign -- has created a bike-share program and something called a “walking school bus.” “I've heard more and more of this kind of walking school bus happening all over the country -- so that kids can get exercise on the way to school, kind of like we did when we were growing up," she said.

A "walking school bus" is a group of children who walk to school with adult chaperones.

"You remember the miles of walking you did with a sweet potato in your pocket?" Mrs. Obama asked a laughing audience. "We all heard that story. My mother repeated it just yesterday. And that’s what Let’s Move! is all about," she said. "That’s what we're really trying to do here.

$400 lobster tail snacks and $100 million air force one africa vacations for Michelle, and walking to school and celery for lunch for the masses.

I read this story once, this is the point where Napolean says "All animal are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".

I think it would be great if Moochelle leads the pack her own self, proudly setting the example for us little people.

Of course, most highway departments would insist upon a large yellow banner across her rear, advising of a “WIDE LOAD”...

No, but it looks like Imelda Obama still walks around with a couple Baggies full of cottage cheese stuffed in the back of her skirt.

Maybe if kids had to actually walk to a school bus stop instead of being picked up at their front doors, childhood obesity wouldn’t be as large a problem.

I don't have a problem with it either depending on: I walked 700 feet to school as a first to third grader, was bused to school more than 5 miles away and rode my bike to high school that was 3-4 miles away.

I just don't want Michelle talking about it.

Remember Michelle walked 5 miles to school in 3 feet of snow and it was uphill each way.

Oh wait, never mind.

You forgot the part about being “barefoot” and “walking miles and miles in the snow”....but yes, up hill — both ways, lol!

Moochelle, nothing new, we always used to walk to school. Well, that was prior to the orders to bus kids in areas where they did not live because of integration of schools.

As a result, kids got fatter and lazier, not to mention that gym classes were curtailed because it makes the chilrun who are not as athletic feel bad.

All of that due to the scourge of leftism.I might also add, if they walk to school Moochelle, who will protect the kids from all the perverts you lefties put back on the streets?

And you try to tell the kids today that we had to do this and they don’t believe you.

I’m black and older than the Obamas. I walked to grade school and took a city bus to high school.

I have never heard of anyone walking to school with a sweet potato in their pocket. WTH? Is that some kind of country thing? It certainly isn’t a black cultural thing. I’ve met all kinds of people from all over and this is the first I’ve heard of having a freaking sweet potato in your pocket.

It probably took us 15 minutes to walk to school - you don’t need a sweet potato or any other nutrition to make it 15 minutes, or even a half hour if you have breakfast.

What is this woman talking about?

If you're a guy you probably walked to school with a banana in your pocket.

There is a culture in our WH that is alien to America. Possibly to the planet earth.
