Incompetent political leadership among the Mayors and City Councils and the City bureaucracy.

When the White man refuses to pay the bills, the cities will die and the Blacks will starve.

I suspect that Detroit was a Model City. Boy, that worked out well.

“Detroit was one of the largest Model Cities projects. Mayor Jerome P Cavanaugh (Mayor 1962—69) was the only elected official to serve on Johnson’s task force. Detroit received widespread acclaim for its leadership in the program, which used $490 million to try to turn a nine-square-mile section of the city (with 134,000 inhabitants) into a model city.[4]”

Decades and decades of liberal democrat governance killed Detroit.

Had GM & Chrysler gone thru bankruptcy (as they should have) wouldn’t the tens-of-Billion$$ of dollars illegally laundered thru them by Oenema now be available to (perhaps) provide some buffer for Detroit (and the scores of those to follow soon) to transition to a sane bankruptcy resolution??

There are race/cultural differences.A Scandinavian is of a different culture than a person from Uzbekistan. An Eskimo is of a different culture than a South African. An Anglo Saxon is different from an Oriental. A Muslim is of a different culture than a Christian. Such has been the world from the time of Abraham with Sarai and Hagar. Many years ago,so the Bible tells, people tried to become one of all at the Tower of Babel. The folly of the human species, at least for some, is to create a modern day societal Tower of Babel. Dr. Shockley was correct in that the characteristics of the different cultures distribution curves can overlap , but that doesn’t make them the same. When one race or culture sets out to dominate another race/culture a la Imperial Japan or Nazi Germany much turmoil results. I see the seeds of such in the likes of white supremacists, black agitators and Muslims.

Can’t tell, they don’t have a “this article appeared on page X, etc.” which I have seen on pieces on the websites of the WSJ and NYT.

Probably more people are reading them all on the web than on paper anyway.

I haven’t bought a paper in probably 10 years; and even when I was a young hipster in my 20s I used to get the Sunday Times every week and another, cheaper paper every day.

Public unions + free sh*t army + 60 years of unbroken democrat rule destroyed Detroit.

And the same formula will also destroy Chicago, Philly, Newark, Camden, Cleveland, Buffalo, etc.

My uncle worked as a photographer for a Detroit TV station and at our 1968 New Year's party he showed some of his work during the 1967 Detroit race riots. I saw a dead man on a stretcher with his head jostling from side to side as he was being carried away from the burnt out buildings and flame-infested cars.

The jolt of fear we all felt caused everyone to sell their houses within about six months.

The proximate cause of the damage to Detroit is the Democrat party.

In 1960 Detroit had the highest per capita income of any city in the USA. Then the democrats took over. What killed Detroit?

RAT poisoning.
