She told us how lonely she was for love and exposed her romantic heart for all to see and feel and her brother wanted to do one more gig. THAT'S my opinion and I wish I didn't have it ... but Karen didn't need to die.

She had a very serious eating disorder. She was set off they think by a DJ's comments about her weight early on and some weight gain did come later. She was a tall woman so she would weigh more. With her disorder came a problem all too common even after recovery which is it weakens the heart somewhat sometimes. You can look at earlier videos and later ones and see the toll the disorder took on her.

Richard was dealing with his own problems I've read including a pill problem. Neither were in a condition to solve the other ones problems. Both IMO were musical geniuses. Her voice has been unmatched by anyone I've heard. On songs like Goodbye to love her voice was actually the only one on the recording. She did her own back ups.

“Merry Christmas, Darling” is a lovely song.

That was my favorite song when I was a child. I remember my parents always listened to AM radio in the car and when that song came on I was the happiest kid in the world. Karen had the most unmistakable voice and all the warmth came through, even in tinny car dash speakers. I’m glad you’re re-discovering the Carpenters.
