My wife and I were cheering when Phil and Miss Kay renewed those vows after 49 years. Uplifting & Powerful.
Happy - Happy - Happy!
Great and fun show!
Maybe there’s hope for the country if millions are watching this and not watching the inane, illiterate, slug manure that most of American TV has become.
to me, they are the anti-Teutuls from “American Chopper” fame. I’ve seen quite a few of DD epis and not one time have they bleeped anything said. The Robertsons don’t use offensive language, unlike the Teutuls. They rub each other the wrong way a lot of times abut they get past it and always remeber what’s important, which is family. The Robertson women are just as intregal to the stories. They add to the story, not detract from it. When you boil out the redneck humor and other things, what you have is a family that genuinely cares for each other and supports each other. They are also very Christian. In todays vast wasteland of televised drek, that is a relief. There is no other show of any kind that projects that much positivity. Duck Dynasty is a breath of fresh air.
What you said!!!
“What is the gist of this show, and why should I watch it?”
Did you read the article?
Making unwarranted assumptions does NOT show intelligence. I've watched the show several times and it is on that basis that my views are formed.
“They may not be as sophisticated and uppity as their big city brethren but that doesn'tt make them stupid or backward.”
They are simply grist for the “entertainment industry” grinder along with “repo” shows and Cajun swamp hunters and hog chasers and moonshiners and what have you.
No, it certainly does not make them stupid or backward and after having lived in rural southern America for many years I found it offensive when asked why I didn't sound like a “hick”.
So watch and enjoy if you wish but the long haired, toothless country bumpkin shtick has been way over worked in my view.
I love this show, especially the prayers at the end. If I could find a link to all those prayers that they say at the end of each episode on youtube etc. it would make my day.
I love these guys.
For The Cause!
The situation each episode revolves around is probably straight from a producer. The family interaction and characters that make the show good seem genuine.
Who are these millions of Americans that are praying to their TV set?
Lighten up Francis.
You should read Willie Robertson’s book. He wrote that when he was young he had a free lunch card but he had no idea they were that poor. When I read that I was like wow I’m almost the same age as Willie and we grew up upper middle class in the city. Then I thought now I’m poor and Willie is loaded :)
I’m not any Francis and I don’t like assumptions of hypocrisy, thank you.
“...So watch and enjoy if you wish...”
Oh, thank you ever so much for giving us permission to watch this show!!!
You are nothing more than an arrogant, narccisstic, elite who assumes to be “better” than the “long haired, toothless country bumpkins” to who you refer. You are a pitiful but laughable person.
Thats a tee shirt:
More beards...Less Hoodies
After your comment, “... having lived in rural southern America for many years...” I have to say you are full of it...
I’ve never heard anyone refer to the south in that manner who didn’t feel they were “above” everyone there...
You are now authorized to speak for “us”??? Your personal comment is only worthy of deletion.
Your opinion of yourself is far too high.
I don’t think you are paying attention to Phil and Miss Kay! They are a randy old couple. The kids’ reaction to them is pretty funny.
The irony of this is as delicious as a roasted duck.
The written word isn't really one of your strong suits, is it?
The success of this show is a phenomenon I never would have predicted. As I think about it I realize that people are starved for this kind of thing. Amidst the Survivor and Desperate Housewives type reality shows and all the other signs of our decaying culture, here is a wholesome loving family upholding traditional values. It is an oasis...a breath of fresh air... a cool drink in a desert etc... I don’t even care if some of the episodes are kinda dumb. I love ‘em anyway.
