You probably won’t find what you’re looking for except from either a high-end furniture store or from a custom cabinet maker.

Almost anything you find from a chain store or online will be either RTA (Ready To Assemble) or built from particle board and held together by staples. Both are inherently weak and will eventually fall apart.

If you have to go either RTA or particle board construction, screw it to the wall studs to give it rigidity. Any flex or movement is what causes them to fail.

More details would be helpful - like how big do you want it? Wood or other materials?

IKEA stuff does not fall apart if you put it together correctly. We have items we use daily for more than ten years, no issues.

Obama has a cabinet. It is usually found in the kitchen gorging itself on as much pork as they can choke down.

3’wide, 6’or 7’ high and no more than 17” deep...Pine or Oak is fine..If painted, yellow or off white is preferable..Glass front is not needed.

You should just get a good contractor to make it for you if you want it to be good quality. It is a buyers market these days (or wait until winter when you can REALLY name your price).

You ca also get some super high quality metal shelving assemblies these days at Home Depot and the like.

I like the Williams-Sonoma Swedish wood shelving. It would have cost over $700 to do ours using their product. I found almost the exact same shelving at Target- this was about 6 years ago. Hubby installed it and even made a wine rack using scraps from other projects- all for less than $150.

Here is the Wms-Sonoma pine shelving.

Do any of the local schools have “shop” classes? A build-to-order project might work for ‘em.....or a local carpenter or even adept handyman.

Look at some of the bookshelves, solid wood not particle board.

What is the cabinets purpose ?
Is it strictly storage space for canned goods , appliances , root crops ( onions , potatos, carrots ), or mixed usage. All of these functions and factors would influence the design of the cabinet,
as would whether you want it on rollers or castors for mobility.
Reinforcement is necessary to prevent 'racking' as the weight of appliances and canned goods varies greatly.

My son just bought a cabinet from Lowes that was for the “garage” to use as a cabinet in his room. Heavy duty.

I thought this was going to be a political post. All Presidents have a Cabinet. Truman had a smaller, informal group called the “Kitchen Cabinet”. I thought you were going to tell me that obama’s advisory board was so small (valerie arret?) that it would fit in a Pantry in the Kitchen! LOL.

Here is some background....My wife is a filipina...so therefore all food must be laid out and dispalyed on every countertop...I can’t explain this cultural madness but i am trying to tidy it up...call me insensitive but i like things to have their place....it is a running joke between us...Love her so! She did come from true poverty so i get the tick that she has.....If any freepers are married to a filipina please tell me that she is not crazy and it is just what it is.
