I agree it has. It's a creeping war - one reads about race killing another race in another state, then reads about it in your state and then reads it in your city, your town, your community and the numbers start adding up, then you get used to hearing about the killings. You just transitioned to an acceptance of a new normal.
How long is it until we reach what Selco went through - killing in any street at any time?
I continue to wonder if there really is much more of it, or we’re just seeing more of it because in the wake of Zimmerman/Martin, people are willing to discuss the problem in polite company.
The fact of the matter is that there has been a huge discrepancy in black-on-white violent crime, vs. white-on-black, for many decades. Delving into DoJ crime stats shows this clearly. But since there is a year or so delay in publishing of new stats, it is hard to say if we’re really seeing more crime, or we’re just hearing about it more. And we won’t really know for a while.
