Lessons In Urban Warfare: “People Will Die In Huge Numbers”
SHTF School ^ | 9/7/13 | Selco

Posted on 09/07/2013 2:14:29 PM PDT by Kartographer

We are at interesting point in time. It might be point that changes human history if some of those who rule us (sorry to call it like that but that is situation right now) play their game and it escalates. Im happy to know most of you have already proper storage and skills to try your best when storm hits. Let’s hope we don’t need anything of this.

If you have time, stop eating (but maybe get drink) and spend half hour to watch the video below. It is just out since 4th of September 2013 but shows bit older video footage of people fighting for their survival in Syria in current conflict. It’s bloody and maybe disturbing for some, so maybe don't eat. I speak a lot about how I moved through city and fought in my survival course and see many similarities. Too many, so I had to take some breaks looking at this. Anyway, I have comments about this video below.

“Urban Warfare has already started here.”

I agree it has. It's a creeping war - one reads about race killing another race in another state, then reads about it in your state and then reads it in your city, your town, your community and the numbers start adding up, then you get used to hearing about the killings. You just transitioned to an acceptance of a new normal.

How long is it until we reach what Selco went through - killing in any street at any time?

I got Selco’s email earlier this morning and watched that video; it’s gut-wrenching, even if it’s very pro-islamist-terrorist-’rebel’.

I could go to almost any big city in American and make the same video, even if it did end up being very pro-Black Muslim.

“Well, of course you do.” You said that due to Johnny saying he would go hunting.

He has related to me instances when people were on his property, even cops he knows, and they never knew he was close to them until he showed himself. He knows how to walk softly and track. Wouldn’t want to be his enemy in the daytime or nighttime.

If I ever go where he is, I know what to bring and wave to get past his imaginary “red line”. His “red line” is not like Hussein’s - Johnny means it.

Unobtrusive. Blend in. Plant a dead rotting animal nearby. Replace as the odor goes away. You want to be invisible.

“does their value depend on the size and capabilities of the neighborhood and on the proximity of areas with feral gangs?”

I think that is more your answer. Strength in numbers/unity and determination but then your reqs for food and water go up. The other choices while good are static and offer a focus point for the opposition. Flexibility and being able to think outside the box would be better. Read some writing by H. John Poole and his views on 4GW warfare.

On the individual level a “grey man” defense would be better. All war is based on deception.

Chi-Congo seems to be a pretty good training ground.

“Consider getting a book called “A Failure of Civility” written by Mike Garand and Jack Lawson. Two guys with urban spec ops training. I saw it here on FR. A technical guide to turning urban areas into defensive zones among many other things.”

I have that book. I am one person and I disappear in such a case, with unseen from the outside, security measures. Think urban camouflage.

During the last “gas shortage” we witnessed a fistfight at a local gas station over the last few drops of gasoline at a gas station in very small town America.. Not urban warfare, but an example of how things can get out of control.

I continue to wonder if there really is much more of it, or we’re just seeing more of it because in the wake of Zimmerman/Martin, people are willing to discuss the problem in polite company.

The fact of the matter is that there has been a huge discrepancy in black-on-white violent crime, vs. white-on-black, for many decades. Delving into DoJ crime stats shows this clearly. But since there is a year or so delay in publishing of new stats, it is hard to say if we’re really seeing more crime, or we’re just hearing about it more. And we won’t really know for a while.

The biggest problem with a wooden or brick fence would be that you can’t see who or what is on the other side. Same with a berm. But ymmv.

In rural areas especially, it's possible to make barriers that look natural, and thus won't proclaim that there are people with things to protect. For example, it's easy to encourage thorny, viney plants like greenbrier to take over an area. My land is already covered in a mix of wild roses, black caps, nettles, and wild parsnip. It wouldn't take much to weave those into a natural-looking barrier.

“...to keep the crazed masses and smoke from NY City away.”

Smoke from NYC blows out to sea...maybe a sunami will wash away the crazed masses...if not, keep your powder dry.

Here's where I usually post "I am so screwed."

But I post that mostly for fun, the reality is, I do not believe that. Selco confirms my hunch:

Who will go first?

Not necessary the weakest one in terms of strength, expect to see first casualties among the people who are most dependent on society and have very bad ability to adapt.

So while 70 years man surely looks like guy who is gonna die among first one when you compare it to the young athletic looking teacher (or whatever) in reality that old guy might be able to adapt faster, because he comes from poor background and grew up in sort of the same survival scenario. That athletic looking dude is maybe lost because his strong faith in society and good human nature.

The reality is, I am probably personally much more durable than most. I have been in hell before, in my 12 step acting-out phase. While I am no longer in that phase, the lessons of what it is to do without NEARLY EVERYTHING have stayed with me. I found out I was mentally and spiritually durable. I can make it through almost anything. I can live without AC and computers and phones. I can live in the woods without a tent and only one sheet draped over me to try, unsuccessfully, to keep skeeters off. I have gone without food and had to carry on anyways.

I will probably be one of the ones that make it, provided I don't get a bit of bad luck somehow.
