Well, I sure screwed it up today… I went to sit down on a chair that wasn't there and fell, now I can't move my legs and the ER released me saying nothing is broke so there is nothing they can/will do. No brace, no chair, no crutches, nothing. The doctor didn't even touch me, tell me to wiggle toes, take my temp, listen to my heart, nothing...just a CT scan and then let me go. I couldn't even get in the car without a nurse, 2 cops and a citizen who offered to help. I don't know what to do now, I can't walk :'(
This is of course concerning to me since I have a fused spine and ongoing issues. I'm calling my pain management doc to see if he wants to do something different.
Over the weekend, I called and emailed the Congressman asking his help to do a status check for me. Today, I got a reply asking to fill out a Casework Authorization Form and get it back to him. I tried to fax it and the fax wouldn’t work so I emailed it and then called the office. His secretary told me it would take too long for him to get it that way and I should email it to her and she would make sure he gets it immediately. She asked what the nature of my request is and I told her what is going on, how long it has been and with the holiday, it’s hard not being able to provide for the kids and get a good holiday meal for the family. She said she would put us on her prayer list and they would help all they can with the status request.
Tomorrow is the spinal cord stimulator test. They put it in tomorrow. If it doesn’t help right away, they take it out and I come home. If it seems to help, they tape it down, put the battery on the belt I have to wear and I come home for about a week (that means, they take it out on Christmas Eve and I go back to being in constant pain). I’m praying it helps, but I’m petrified with fear over this. My anxiety is so bad; I haven’t been able to eat for almost 2 days. Prayers appreciated...God Bless you all!
I made this list up from everyone who replied to this thread. I posted an update on post 261. Tomorrow is the date for the trial procedure. Please pray it goes well and they don’t do anything to cause my paralysis to be permanent.

Prayers up. My doc told me if I could live with the condition my back is currently in post op, do so. He told me that if we go back in it will be much more involved and the recovery will be looooonnnnnnngggggg. So, we will deal with it for now. Hope you have much success with the procedure.

(not being a doctor and not knowing where you are, I can’t KNOW for sure what your future will bring. BUT often paralysis is temporary, especially when the CT scans don’t show any actual damage.)
1. get another medical and tests/images, a second opinion... with the best doc you can (neurologist?)
2. keep your faith
3. get someone to assist you with small daily activities in the meanwhile.

Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. There’s alot of success with cortical (sp?) stimulation to relieve pain. I almost went that route myself about 4 years ago, was very fortunate that my Orthopaedic Neurosurgeon managed to find the location of the root nerves that were causing my pain and was able to quiet them down with a few cortisone shots.
