I figure if the government goon wants some of this information they can spend a week observing my house from down the street.

...or go to court, get a court order or a warrant, kick in my door, and count the toilets in my house.

While the Commerce survey has been around for quite some time the questions and info requested have become more invasive and personal under the current administration.

And as for being confidential that is not correct. The one I received was addressed to Resident and I was assured that it was confidential and I was selected randomly, that they did not have my name only my address. They guy that showed up to “assist” me in the survey knew that my name was Irish in origin, he left that in one of his notes. HARRASSMENT.

This article is similar to my experience:

I received it and ignored it.
I received another one and intended to ignore it.
One day they called our home while I was out and a family member fielded some questions & that seems to have appeased them.

Do you have to respond to the ACS? Yes.

My 1st edition U.S. Constitution makes no mention of this ACS. Which edition are you using?

Twenty-one.

That seems a lot, to me...

To: Haiku Guy; All

Please don’t count me again because I’ve already been counted, but I thought I’d give an update.

I received the form in the mail a couple of times and ignored it.

Then, a couple weeks ago, a representative showed up at my house when I wasn’t home and my wife told her that she’d have to speak with me. She left a card and asked that I call so that she wouldn’t have to come back.

I did not call thinking that maybe she would just forget about me, but lo and behold, she came back on Saturday when I was out cutting wood. She left another card and it said that she was “obligated” to keep coming back until she spoke with me. No one spoke with her this time either.

I went ahead and called her last night and told her “thank you, but I’m not interested”. She began to read a script to me saying how important this was that I participate, but I stopped her and told her that I understood how important she thought that it was, but I was still not interested. She then asked for my name and I asked why. She said that she needed to record that she had spoken with someone at my address and that we refused to complete the survey. I suggested that she just write that she spoke with an adult at the address and that they refused. She said “OK”. and we were done.

Hope that helps for some others wondering what they should do.

My wife’s aunt did. She doesn’t know if it is real.

So I looked HERE! so much better than Wikipedia or the rest of the web.

In today’s climate of Target, et.al., scams, I would reply that it also must be a scam and I cannot participate for my own safety.

A friend of mine just asked me about this, as she is being told by one of their filed workers that she will be fined up to $5000 if she fails to complete the survey. WTH?
