Considering his five decades of accomplishments in that industry, truly a travesty.

I didn't realize he'd never won an Emmy Neither did I. It's about time.
Bob is far more talented than most of today's comedians.
I saw his guest appearance on Big Bang Theory. He deserved this Emmy.

Absolutely right. He still has great delivery and timing, and you could tell that the Big bang cast truly enjoyed working with him.

And he is capable of being funny without referring to sex or bathroom humor! What a concept!

If only the shooter yesterday spent five minutes with Bob, he would have been cured.

I didn't realize he still walked among us - he looked old in the 70s.
Funny guy, though. Good for him.

His comedy is timeless.
I am disapointed it was for a single appearance where he was a giant among 1/4 talent hacks.

I saw an interview with the cast of "Big Bang Theory". They all said (or agreed) that "Mr Newhart delivers his lines, when Mr Newhart is good and ready".
Interesting comment, I thought. Showed the difference between generations. Newhart is a comedian who understands that comic timing and delivery is everything. I suspect that he could read the Yellow Pages and make people grin.
The rest of the cast - while funny - make their trade on the script and the characters they've created. They've got a good show, but I think that it's unlikely we'll be seeing any of them at the Emmy Awards when they're 80. Unless it's to reprise the characters they created for "BBT".

Do you remember the Bob Newhart?
(with Suzanne Pleshette)
Then he went on to do the Newhart show, the series finally of that show was the greatest ever on TV.

while he is certainly no Bob Newhart, Johnny Galecki (Leonard) has been around a good 21 years already... not a legend at this time, but not bad...
