Help! Somehow the task bar jumped to the top of the computer screen. Yes, I'm logged in. Yes, I know how to move the task bar around - right click, unlock task bar and move it. Problem is when I move it back to the bottom, it leaves an empty space where it was at the top and is ghosty when it's back at the bottom (the background shows through it). So, I clicked it back to the top and back down again and now the second problem... the internet screen is getting smaller and smaller. Each time I move the task bar from the top, the 1/2" it was using stays there showing a 1/2" of the desk top. Move the task bar a second time and it's 1" of desk top showing at the top and less readable internet screen. Move it a third time and it's 1.5" of desktop showing and 1.5" less readable screen. Rinse and repeat. Yes, the obvious thing would be to quit moving the task bar (Doc, my arm hurts when I do this - so quit moving your arm). But how the heck do I get my readable part of the screen back to 100%? No, right clicking to get arrows to expand it doesn't work - no arrows appear.
Kill your computer with an AR Shotgun. It is the only way to be sure.
Google it....
I have Windows 7.
I have googled it and can’t find the fix.
Get a bigger monitor.
Move your cursor into the toolbar.
Right mouse click and hold.
Move cursor (still on hold) to left or right edge, then to bottom.
After you get it reset, right click on the toolbar and select ‘lock the taskbar’.
Sounds like a ghost in the machine. Yikes! I got something too where a bunch of my documents changed their format and when I tried to open them I’d get a message that I “needed” to buy Office 2010 to open them. I changed them all back to what they were before. Weird.
I’ve never really understood why anyone would want a taskbar at the bottom of the screen. I put mine at the top where it belongs.
Pinging one of the smartest computer folks around these here parts. ;)
You didn’t eat scallops last night, did you?
After you get your tool bar reset, try right-clicking on an empty portion of the desktop.
Then, select refresh.
You might also try logging out and re-logging in.
Damn. You beat me to it.
I don’t need help moving the task bar but getting the readable internet screen back to full size after moving the task bar. The top of the readable internet screen is 1/5” below the top of the computer screen so that the desktop is visible. I can’t get the readable part to go back up to the top of the computer screen. If I move the task bar down, the task bar goes to a ghost image on top of the internet page without moving the internet page up to the top of the computer screen.
No, homemade chicken soup.
Thanks.
No doubt others here will be able to help
Mine is at the bottom and hidden until mouse over so there.
Nope, already tried right-clicking empty portion and restarting and it doesn’t work.
Log out or reboot.
That cures many problems.
Have you installed any new programs recently or changed your personalize or desktop theme?
