Having lived this, I can attest that rearing and reliance on God does not always result in immediate relief, no matter how Godly or reverent one might be.
In my case, God’s relief came a decade or later, after the tribulations had passed and the damage done (divorce, alienation and a disaster here or there)
Two decades later, the relief came, reconciliations and old wounds healed. God works on HIS timetable, not yours and no amount of preparation can change that.

O’Connor’s genuinely crazy (and career - she had quite a beautiful voice) days were a long time ago. Maybe, like a lot of us, she did some growing up during the intervening years. Certainly can’t say that about a certain other and far less talented singer, known sacriligiously as “Madonna”, who simply went through iterations of skankhood.

I remember when Madonna was considered a hack. Now she is talent. Imagine how much further down society degrades when Miley will be called talent and Madonna a queen.
