The father though was a first-class jerk....he made Murry Wilson and Joe Jackson looks like saints in comparison.

Loved this song.

But, the photo of the Cowsills reminded me of a comment a good friend made about a picture of the Rolling Stones; my friend said she’d NEVER seen so many ugly men in one place at the same time.

The Cowsills may have been somewhat ugly, but they could sing—I’ve never understood the enchantment with the Rolling Stones.

Kinda like Dylan—he made the mistake of singing when he should have put his poetry on paper.

If you’re blessed with pipes, sing.
If you can’t sing but have something to “say”, write poetry or a book.

Singing is an auditory experience-you’d better be good.

Wow... I am floored that I never knew that was a Zombies song. I bought the version by People in 1968 and still have that 45. I looked it up and there’s a YouTube for it:

About the most I can say is I might not have changed the radio when they came on, then again I might. I was listening to: The Doors, Procol Harum, Buffalo Springfield, The Beatles, The Moody Blues, The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, etc.

Early on they group as grown ups denied it but one of the brothers finally opened up about some of it a year or two ago. Year he wasn't kind that's for certain. I think ironically their girl is the youngest performer on a top 10 hit even beating out Michael Jackson. They do have some video's more recent on Youtube. The kids as they grew up learned various instruments. There is another brother that never performed. He was the manager taking over the dads place I think.

The Wilson Brother was another tragedy with Carl seeming to have handled it the best. Brian knew how to write the songs but Karl had the voice.

By the way, during a family road trip (circa 2002) we visited the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” in Cleveland and there was an exhibit there honoring “Rob Argent”. Yes, “Rob”. I kid you not.
