Reminds me of the end of Mike Tyson's boxing career. Tyson would go out early in the first rounds with a few strong punches, but if his opponent didn't go down, that was it, Tyson was losing (or biting an ear as the case may be).

He was like, oh well, that didn't work, guess I'll go home.

He'll do the same thing he is doing now, as will McConnel. They are showing us right now what they will do.

As I said in post 51 above, the GOP conservative should rebel in the House against Boehner and vote him out as the Speaker and replace him with a conservative Speaker willing to do battle and take Obama to the mat.

In fact the GOP should take the following line in talking to Obama.

"Look, Barry, we have the votes to stop you cold and we have decided to do that.

"We control the government funduiing and we are going to exercuise that control.

"We are talking about a complete shutdown where not so much as a dime will be available for you to even heat the White House, so get ready to stay at the local Holiday Inn on your own dime for the duration.

"the only thing we will fund during that time is the US military you hate so much.

"When you are ready to talk about seriously creating a budget...one that is balanced by the way, and reducing the debt...and we are talking about a true reduction in the actual amount we owe, not just a reduction in the percentage of your spending increases, and we are talking anout an end to ObamCare. When you are ready to seriously talk to us about those things...get back with us.

"Oh, BTW, Barry. One other thing we will fund is the following. The House of Reprentatives will meet each day with the express purpose of impeaching your sorry backside every single day for the next 60 working days. Impeach you each day on different charges. 60 times, Barry. When you get ready to talk to us, then the first thing the Senate will do will be to act on those 60 impeachments before anything else.

"So, we have the votes, and we are firm. Give us a call when you are ready to talk. Bye now."
That's the discussion a real Speaker of the House should be having with Obama.

Aren’t illegals already covered by Obamacare?

He fought conservatives, that's what he calls a "good" fight. Conservatives have no representation in government, except a few true mavericks (FU McSlime!) who are considered the "enemy" by the GOP.

He’s just impressed with his own lot in life. He disgusts me.

Thanks for the post.

I referenced this on another thread where too many seems resigned to losing, and also to not fighting now.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3079744/posts

We should keep fighting!

And also get rid of Boehner.

(It bothers me that I have learned how to spell his name, though the spell check keeps making other suggestions...)

Amne!

See my poost 62 here, and my response to you on that thread.

The GOP has the votes and the power to stop all of this and take Obama to the mat. for the good of the nation and for our kids and grandkids they must use those votes and that power.

Jan 1st, the individual mandate kicks in, and people will feel it. We also have another CR fight in January. The fight isn't all up to Boehner. It can be fought. So can immigration.

But only if people like you don't roll over and give up. I've made calls today and sent emails. You can do the same.

BTW, the bill isn't actually passed yet, or signed into law.

Question-we have seen “Republicans” in Congress, after being elected as Republicans, unilaterally decide to switch to the other party. (We have seen a very instances of the opposite occur). Could the conservatives, the “Tea Party” Republicans in Congress decide to switch to Independents, or even call themselves by an entirely new party name (Tea Party, Constitutionalist, whatever)? Would that be against any parliamentary rules?

You didn’t fight for anything.

You just rolled over and died.

Should have saved us all time and did this 2 weeks ago (since it was a forgone conclusion anyway...)

Imagine if we had Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas as speaker right now.

Things would be different, I have no doubt.

Who said I ‘rolled’ over? Only an idiot would suggest something so sophomoric.

The weeping cheetoh just made my ability to argue against states seceeding from the union that much more difficult. Its not like I can plausibly argue that conservatives have a dog in the fight anymore.

Its sad when French politicians can look at ours and say “Mon Dieu! What a bunch of cowards!”

Not really. The House picked him knowing full well what they were getting. As disappointing as this defeat is it’s not nearly as disappointing as the realization that the rhetoric notwithstanding, this what the gop wants.

Amnesty is next up. Gun control around Christmas. A gift from the weeping cheetoh and the rest of the gop faction of the uniparty.

You are cowards and you quit. Shame on you and the stupid Republicans.

They are not called the stupid party for nothing. I think we all knew they would cave.

The last time I was this nauseated by the gutless party was in Sep/Oct 1990, when the gutless unprincipled coward George Herbert Walker Bush, the archetypal spineless RINO, broke his solemn anti-tax pledge and kissed his worthless butt and second term goodbye. BTW, do these people actually think that adding another trillion to the credit card is going to avoid a credit downgrade? Sheer madness. It’s Weimar time, folks.

Amen to that Bedford. I remember it well. He gave us Clinton on a platter...with the later help of Ross Perot.

But the conservatives in the House can still fight. They should pull out all the stops and defeat Boehners roll over.

If Boehner is willing to break the Hastert rule, then the GOP conservative should rebel in the House against Boehner and vote him out as the Speaker and replace him with a conservative Speaker willing to do battle and take Obama to the mat.

In fact the GOP should take the following line in talking to Obama.

"Look, Barry, we have the votes to stop you cold, and we have decided to use those votes.

"We are talking about a complete shutdown where not so much as a dime will be available for you to even heat the White House, so get ready to stay at the local Holiday Inn on your own dime for the duration. Also, tell Michelle she can send her 100+ assistants home to, and weed her own garden.

"The only thing we will fund during that time is the US military you hate so much.

"When you are ready to talk about seriously creating a budget...one that is balanced, one that really reduces the debt...and we are talking about a true reduction in the actual amount we owe, not just a reduction in the percentage of your spending increases...and a budget we that puts an end to ObamCare. Think about that while you are waiting, and watching.

I see them putting off gun control for another election cycle. That will give them time to get those newly amnestied “Americans” voting and ensure passage of anti-gun legislation.
