Retired General: Some in Military Want to 'Take Out the President'
National Journal ^ | November 1, 2013 | Alex Seitz-Wald

A former top general and current executive at the Family Research Council says members of the military have considered staging a coup d'état against President, but will not because of civilian control of the military.

"People I've spoken to would like to see the military 'fulfill their constitutional duty and take out the president,' " retired Army Lt. Gen. William Boykin told World Net Daily, a website best known for pushing Obama "birther" conspiracy theories. "Our Constitution puts a civilian in charge of the military and as a result a coup would not be constitutional. You're not going to see a coup in the military."

"I talk to a lot of folks who don't support where Obama is taking the military, but in the military they can't say anything," Boykin said.

Boykin, an evangelical Christian who is now the executive vice president of the Family Research Council, was publicly repudiated by President Bush twice in 2003 for saying Muslims worship an "idol" and not "a real God." Last year, Boykin abruptly pulled out of appearing at a West Point ceremony after controversy erupted over the invitation. (Boykin has also said Islam "should not be protected under the First Amendment" and that there should be "no mosques in America" because "a mosque is an embassy for Islam and they recognize only a global caliphate.")

All the current members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (Commanders of each branch plus the National Guard) are Obama appointees and therefore loyal to him. Each of the Joint Chiefs was confirmed by the Senate.

You only hear statements like this from RETIRED members of the military.

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” Barack Hussein Obama, 7/2/2008

What could possibly go wrong?

If you like your military, you will be able to keep your military. Period.

If you like your generals, you will be able to keep your generals. Period.

No one will take them away. No matter what.

Because voting worked so well the last election.

When you have rogue agencies like the IRS and EPA targeting political groups and opponents, it’s called tyranny.

The whole damn system is corrupt and needs a severe fixing, no matter what it takes.

Revolts aren’t won by votes.

We take out the president every 4 years (or have the opportunity to). We need to continue down that path and avoid the latin america style politics.

Except the last election was so full of corruption and fraud that it made banana republic elections look honest.

. . . he’s “taking out” generals almost weekly?

AFAIK most military mutinies that toppled sitting dictators were not staged by generals but colonels from meticulous planning to actual staging it, they'd asked their upper class friend already generals co alma matter military academy in the middle of coup if they want to join in the mutiny, most chicken P-C senior officers would wait until almost to the end who they'd side with. Esprit de corps will minimize or avoid killings among themselves. Bunch of colonels had ended Ferdinand Marcos regime, Col. Muammar Gaddafi never promoted himself to general.

I agree. Talking about this in public is like painting a bulls eye on your back.

On the other hand, all of Odumbo’s purges of the military, as of late, has me thinking that he fears a coup within the ranks. He is acting just like a paranoid dictator.

It would explain a lot of the upper level military purges. And, probably, why the military is talking about “force-outs” to push out guys before the enlistment is up, while lecturing them on white privileged.

On that I agree. The rest not so much.

We could use another Pinochet.

Problem with that, after you get rid of the POSOTUS, you have a Pinochet.
