Affordable-Care Proposal,Why Not Just Lower Rates Closer To Fifty Dollars A Month?

Posted on 11/14/2013 5:09:23 AM PST by Cruz_West_Paul2016

Think of Obama-Care as the process of buying a used/new car.You are the seller, the interested party likes the car but wont pay the asking price. As the seller, you are now in the negotiating stage, you lower the price another thousand. The buyer still says no. Just like with the monthly fees of Obama-Care. You would assume by now that "The Powers That Be" would be backing into a corner and will have to lower the monthly fees to sell their product.Well, it is called the "Affordable-Care-Act". So lets make it affordable and offer plans between Fifty and One-Hundred Dollars a month. Problem Solved !!!

Not breaking news, and not fiscally doable.

No offense, but FAIL.

It’s hard to add to what the first two posters noted but, in the case of buying an auto and negotiating, Obamacare isn’t negotiable. Having insurance is now the law which kinda defeats your premise that you (the consumer) have any power in this transaction.

To continue your car buying analogy, the item includes things like premium chrome oversized rims with run-flat tires, a sunroof, spoiler, hood graphics, HID headlights, in-dash navigation, leather seating, wood trim and a premium sound system. Clearly a car so-equipped is superior to one without the goodies, but no more functional. One would expect to pay more for the gingerbread items.

The ACA too mandates many non-functional gingerbread items to the basic model, like gynecological and maternity for single men and the nearly retired, psychological care for those with slight risk or likelihood, drug treatment for those who don't use, and much more. When you lard up a "basic" item, you get an unaffordable monstrosity that nobody will appreciate paying for.

Perfect logic, if you’re a third grader or a democrat, but I repeat myself.

Not possible
Many people are driving around in ‘new cars’ without a car payment - you’re paying for those car payments too.

I'll give you a $5/month plan. Your deductible will be $1,000,000. Obamacare is crap. It Medicaid for all with capitated bids. Suppliers bid to take X amount of patients and get paid Y amount of money to do it. The delta is their profit. Very, very few are even bothering to bid, because they know that not only is the current deltat profitable, but that Y won't ever materialize. Y is the money collected and is supposed to reflect a patient mix, but it won't, it will be all high cost, low payment patients. Y will be grossly underfunded and the Democrats will cry for the money to come out of general revenue, aka pure medicaid.

After that the suppliers will pull out totalling and the Feds will have to mandate that they provide service. Take a look at Venezuala to see how that works out.

"You would assume by now that "The Powers That Be" would be backing into a corner and will have to lower the monthly fees to sell their product."

Quite the opposite.

The "buyers" are being forced, by law, to purchase the product. It's the perfect situation to raise the price of whatever is being sold.

What do you think the automakers would do to prices if a law was passed mandating everyone buy a new car in calendar 2014? Sell Corvettes for $1000?

Try again after you've given this some thought.

Are you going to tell the insurance companies what they have to charge now?

The price is going up because there are people being covered for things that old plans did not cover, this adds to the expense and thus price.

ACA is a new welfare program, some will pay extra to pay for those who pay little or nothing. This was the whole point of the thing. It was never about lowering the price of insurance. It is a new welfare program.

ACA does not allow a cheap no-frills insurance plan to exist

Exactly.

Like being forced to buy a loaded F-350 when the consumer can only afford a used Kia.
