I was going to post this earlier today, but then I thought it might put everyone to sleep. So, I am posting it now. Good night to Amy's Place. Snuggle in, it's going to be a cold one.

I love that graphic too. When I saw it, I thought how pretty it would be with falling snow over it. There are other images of this “snow queen” that came up in a google search, but I liked this one with the polar bear the best. She is beautiful.

Serious Fear

December 8, 2013

Read: Luke 2:8-20

Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy. —Luke 2:10
Bible in a Year:
Daniel 8-10; 3 John

After weeks of preparation by the children’s choir, the night had finally arrived for our annual Christmas musical in 1983. The costumed children began filing into the auditorium when suddenly we heard a ruckus at the back door. My wife and I turned to look and saw our own little Matt. Sobbing loudly and with a look of sheer terror on his face, he had a death grip on the door handle. He refused to enter the auditorium. After much negotiating, the director finally told him he didn’t have to go on stage. Instead, Matt sat with us, and soon his fears began to subside.

Although we don’t usually identify Christmas as a time of fear, there was plenty of it on the night of Christ’s birth. Luke says, “Behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid” (Luke 2:9). The sight of the angelic messenger was more than the shepherds could process. But the angel reassured them: “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people” (v.10).

In a world full of fear, we need to remember that Jesus came to be the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6). We desperately need His peace. As we look to Him, He will ease our fears and calm our hearts.

Hail, the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Risen with healing in His wings. —Wesley
God incarnate is the end of fear. —F. B. Meyer

~Welcome To Sunday At Amy's Place~

High Holy Days

Snow so softly falls silent out of the ebony sky
a blanket of forgetfulness over autumn's litter
and small lights strung challenges the stars above
lighting the season on porch, window, and trees

I smile as I walk tonight, for even sadness flees
for now we will celebrate the Season of His Dove
remembering what He would accept for us so bitter
and in doing so, set even my old sad soul to fly.

We have a freezing fog alert..That’s a first for me..
We escaped the terrible ice and sleet that others in Texas received..A very light dusting was all we had..but it has been in the 20s ..29 now and 44 predicted high..It will be our break from the freezing cold. Our temps hav been 40 degrees below normal.
I am snug and secure..and blessed with no loss of power during this.

Good, stay warm and inside.
Our temps are like yours but we won’t be that warm.
But this is December in Buffalo, to be expected.
But Texas? Stay safe!

I got out once to pour warm water in the bird bath..a futile gesture..It wasn’t slick on the patio because of the preccip missing us.
I am VERY aware of the danger of ice and will not go out at all when it is icy.
