No doubt with Rihanna on Youtube, feeding them satanic crap while they can’t escape.

Bad parenting IS the sign of times.

There’s something very Matrix-like about plopping an iPad in an infant’s field of vision. Shouldn’t a baby be interacting with those around him in the real world, or is the computer screen now the real world.

You have to start the Prolefeed early.

I admit that infant (under 2 years) needs stimulus other then electronic. My boy, age 3 in February, however, uses an I-pad and a laptop to play his U-tubes and other activities that improve his verbal and cognitive skills.

My iPad is what helped get our daughter potty trained by 18 months. Just like anything else there is a time and a place. Infancy however, is neither.

YES. (And so should everyone else.) I'm really concerned about people doing this because (a) they think hi-tech is trendy and it means they're cutting-edge to do this; and (b) they're lazy parents who can't stand personal interaction, even with their adult peers.

More than that, though: a kid (infant) who doesn't interact with PEOPLE will grow up seriously disturbed. Remember the experiments of Harry Harlow. No iPad can take the place of Mommy or Daddy, even if it's wrapped in warm terrycloth.

The latest thing with these rich young IDIOT parents is ...get this:

Occupational therapy for their preschoolers.

These are kids who have never touched play-doh, a crayon, blocks, puzzles or any REAL TOY.

Then they find out their kids have zero fine motor skills.

More importantly what stupid parents do not seem to understand is that screen viewing (frame rates etc… comes from TV and video games) is a stunting factor in a young child;s development. Young children should not be using these devices

My grand-daughter will be 2yo in early January and likes to cuddle with my wife while playing a “Daniel Tiger” app on grandma’s iPad mini but that’s only part of her development. My wife is a retired speech pathologist so I trust her to balance the experiences for my grand-daughter. That said, this seat removes the interaction with real people so I don’t see one in our future.

Children need to work in three dimensions and in many different media, ie crayons, clay, paints.

“a kid (infant) who doesn’t interact with PEOPLE will grow up seriously disturbed.”

Someone with extreme technological ability and no connection to people can be very dangerous indeed. This is breeding the next Bin Laden

My kids love tech.

They have since they could pick up a cellphone or move a mouse.

Tech isn't bad and the ability to use it from infancy can be a good thing ....

The concern is the same concern over and over in today's world is ... whether parents are going to step up and be parents or be their kid's best friend.

I wish I could be giving my 8 year old dolls..but she wants iPads and laptops.

I'm coming to the conclusion that parents have to teach their kids how to properly use tech from infancy...

A little girl’s world shouldn’t be flat and shiny and the size of a dinner plate.

The problem with computers is that someone else has designed the kind of game you can play, instead of you deciding which game you want to play, and how to play it.

I agree with what the other poster said about the development of fine motor skills. A iPad or laptop simply can’t teach those.

We avoided electronic for a very long time. Son got his first video game console(playstation 3) at around 13-14 and went wild for about a year but now at 16 he doesn’t even bother with it. He never had a TV in his room and our main one is a dinosaur so he never really watched TV in his life except for some history and science channels. Both my kids love to do sports and only use their rooms for sleeping. I advocate holding off on an electronics as long as possible and let the kids find a love in play, music, art, reading, sports etc

Oh my 18 yr old daughter in college did request an Ipad mini for college for Christmas. She has a big heavy 3 yr old laptop so I have been looking around since that is what college classes are going toward. Is there such thing as a “deal” for an Ipad mini?

I have heard certain stores do not discount the price but give you a gift card for X amount when you buy it. It’s likely that Apple does not allow “discounts”.

Walmart did it last year on IPads.
