I take it you haven’t purchased an RV yet. You can buy a motor home and tow a small, economical car, or buy a truck and either put a camper on it or tow a trailer or 5th wheel. Your mileage may vary. I’ve lived in an RV since 2004. It’s registered to a PO Box. For the purposes of insurance I use a physical address, but my rate is based on the amount of miles I drive. (State Farm)
Look on Yahoo groups for an RV group that uses the same RV you will have. For example, I belong to a Winnebago group. Also I belong to a Walmart RV group.http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/walmartrving/conversations/messages You may need to be a member to see the group.
There is a website just for dump sites. http://www.rvdumps.com/dumpstations/
How do you plan to bank? Or collect your SS?
For certain purposes, you legally have a "domicile," which can be only changed by adopting a new "domicile." So if you leave your permanent address in, say, Nevada, and go bumming around the country with no new fixed address, you are legally considered to still be a "domiciliary" (and citizen) of Nevada until you establish a domicile elsewhere.
Puhrump Nevada is practically all RV folks.
RV parks everywhere there!
Many full-time RVers register their vehicles in Montana. Check around in the RV forums such as http://www.rv.net/forum
this guy, Lamar, on youtube does homesteading and lives off the grid. He seems to be an expert, built his own cabin for cheap, few bills etc.
his youtube name is solarcabin

Yes.
I agree.
Just as a thought exercise.
A Homeless man, pushing his cart along the street that just happens to contain a million dollars in cash.
The homeless certainly are not filing their taxes or are they expected too.
If his money is in a bank and it earns interest then the bank will report it. If his money is in a bank and doesn’t earn any reportable interest income, than there is nothing to report.
The challenge, as I see it, comes down to having a vehicle.
I’ll go back to my first post.
Establish your “residence” as a vacant lot. And it may be a good idea to do this in a zero tax state that is not your current state of residence.
You will still have to re-new your tags/drivers license and deal with auto-insurance, but you can be “OFF the Grid”.
When the authorities show up to a vacant lot to serve you papers etc....What are they going to do ?
Also, what would keep me from picking some random address as my address ?
Are they going to ask me for a utility bill to prove that I’m living with someone else?
Pick a homeless shelter.
Pick a hotel.
You’ll get your license and vehicle registration.
There are mail services nomads use that will screen your mail and forward only the things you wish to receive.
Not an answer on what to do for a permanent address but helpful for the day to day crap that you can dismiss.

for starters.
Instead let’s conspire to destroy the grid
Lots of motor homers or sailors use a mail drop service as an address for the things you mention...
There are marinas that will keep cruisers mail for extended lengths of time or forward it; very common.

There’s a guy with a book out there called something along the lines of “make yourself invisible”.
I think the book was pre-9/11 and it’s a lot harder now.
But, IIRC, one of his better ideas was to register vehicles to a LLC that you control. The LLC gets registered in the state of your choice and there are services that will handle the PO box and forwarding any correspondence to you.
This has the added benefit that, if someone sees your vehicle/RV and as access to registration databases, they don’t pull up your name or home address, but only get the LLC info.
Nothing will stop the government - they have unlimited resources. But making yourself difficult to find may cause others who seek to do you harm to find another target.
Interesting! We have some crap ass real estate development property in the next county that was established in the 1970’s. They are literally trying to get people to “buy” or just take over the deed on these properties. They have 5 lakes with normal housing, prefabs and even travel trailers that make their home there. You can buy some lots for $800 or less. They can’t even enforce paying the association fees. It would be a great place for a pseudo address.

you might find this helpful, they live on a boat.
I do have a suggestion regarding the type of RV you get. A motor home is "all in one." The whole thing goes wherever you go. That can be inconvenient. You might consider getting a trailer and either an SUV or pickup truck to pull it. That way you can park the trailer in a campground, and have the convenience of a more conventional vehicle for shopping or local travel in the vicinity of the campground.
One word: Philippines.

**If I don’t officially “Live” in a particular state, can I go buy a truck in New Hampshire and pay no sales tax ?**
Actually no. You have to have an established NH residency.
NH RSA 21:6
21:6 Resident; Inhabitant. A resident or inhabitant or both of this state and of any city, town or other political subdivision of this state shall be a person who is domiciled or has a place of abode or both in this state and in any city, town or other political subdivision of this state, and who has, through all of his actions, demonstrated a current intent to designate that place of abode as his principal place of physical presence for the indefinite future to the exclusion of all others.
And from NH.com:
ESTABLISHING RESIDENCY
New Hampshire does not have a formal procedure for establishing residency. Anyone wanting to establish residency must provide some form of tangible proof that they are living in the state. Acceptable forms of proof include drivers license, utility bill, rental or mortgage payment, and vehicle registration.
The glitch comes when you try to register the vehicle.
At one time, many people were coming to NH....getting PO boxes for a NH address...........and registering their cars here [NH] to avoid property taxes. Connecticut came down on them big-time and now, you rarely see a Puerto Rican family with NH plates dropping their kids off at an inner city Hartford school.IIRC there was a program to *turn-in* people you saw with NH plates.
