I know it’s a macho thing an all to be a Packer and play or watch games under those conditions. But I think it’s a shame when teams make it to the playoffs and end up playing in conditions that are so extreme that they can barely use any of the skills, plays or talent that got them there.
I like to watch top teams, with top players making great plays, not a bunch of snowmen or ice cycles whose main goal will be holding on to the ball.
Hope no one gets hurt because of the cold

My favorite comment at the site:
jboody79 says:
Jan 1, 2014 7:37 PM It wont be -15 until long after the game is over. I live Minnesota and it doesnt hit that until well after midnight. Kickoff will zero to +4 degrees and by the times the game is over it might be -5 to -8 below. Us Minnesotians and those stupid Cheese heads are used to this.

Everything old is new again. Cast your mind, if you will, back to 31DEC1967 - Lambeau Field - the "Ice Bowl." I seem to remember being allowed to watch the game, but my memory on that may be faulty.
I was in Boot Camp at Great Lakes at the time. Air temps at game time were below 0°F at our location and the usual high winds were blowing in from the Lake. On the night of New Year's Eve, or I should say the early morning of New Year's Day, I had the 0200-0400 Fence Watch at Camp Moffett, a collection of WWII temporary buildings where they housed the MIC and SID recruits.
We showed up at about 0145 and were provided with cold weather gear and M-1's. As we presented ourselves, I saw a boot from our Company who had been sent to SID who was being "motivated" by one of the staff. We went out to walk the fences in -20°F temps in knee deep snow. In the two-hour watch the only creature we saw was a rabbit running by.
I can't recall a time in my life when I was colder - plenty of times when I was overheated - walking through the Elephant grass in 'Nam, for example.

I'm with trisham on this...I LOVE going to a game when the elements are completely nasty...
I went to the Patriots-Broncos playoff game last year, and the only ticket I could get was all the way up here at the point of the red arrow:
I was completely warm and decked out complete with fur hat and all, but there was absolutely nobody in that section outlined in red...I was the only one up there!
As I recall, it was only about 20 degrees, but up there, the wind was about 30 mph, which really dropped the wind chill.
Now, I do agree with you, Red_Devil 232 about being in the living room with a big flat panel display and beer by your side...football is a great spectator sport for television, but...I love going to the game as long as I can prepare.
I went to the game last week where the Pats beat Buffalo, and it was drenching rain...what a blast!
But like I said, I have no problem staying at home, either...:)

Irony is a ship full of global warming advocates getting trapped in the hardest freeze to hit Antarctica in decades. The double irony is that it is the beginning of summer in the Antarctic. If they had just waited it would have surely melted and set them free. Perhaps those global warmists know something we do not. :)

I love that stadium! It has so much character. Many of the other stadiums look so much alike-but one glance at the “Longfellow bridge” and the “lighthouse” and you know it’s all about New England. :)

What a bunch of whimps, our drilling crew will be working a 12 hour shift in the Bakken Oil field, every time we break a joint of pipe we will be flooded with drilling mud and water. Drilling rig floor will be covered with frozen Bentonite and water, and the man on the rat board 90 feet in the air will have no protection, and remember this will go on for 12 hours not 2 or 3 hours like a football game. Our only hope is that the wind is not blowing 45 to 50 miles per hour.Wussies.

They did a nice job building it, but I swear there has to be a design defect in two areas: allowing fans to get to the bathrooms in a reasonable time, and the noise deadening qualities of the stadium.
(Well, the noise issue is probably just the reserved fans, but...I felt obliged to blame it on SOMETHING...)

I'm from northern Wisconsin...north of Green Bay, I am an ardent Packer fan...heve been since the 1940's....but in this day and age, I agree that most of these games, as are most college bowl games..should be played either in covered stadiums or in more climate friendly conditions. I understand the Green Bay fans wanting to have a home game there, but playing anything, including skiing and ice hockey in those conditions, takes away from the game and certainly affects both teams adversely. Hope no one gets hurt because of the cold

On a side note why should a team with an 8-7-1 record get to host a playoff game with a visiting team with 12 wins? Although I’m a Pack fan it doesn’t seem right to have it in Green Bay.

To be honest, I was out in those winter elements my entire working life, I have no desire to sit out in the cold watching a football game now. The TV in the warm living room is more my style. :)
