I remember Bob Ross, he of the puffy brown fro and flash-bang school of art products.

April Dawn. Is that a pseudonym for a porn actress or a stripper?

Is she related to Delta?

See my post above. I think it is safely across a clear bright line.

Legally, you are mostly correct, although there is the question of degrading the value of the original AP photo. However, to quote the blueprint that is inspiring the far left, "some animals are more equal than others". The fact that GZ is clearly engaged in parody is not as significant if it was some other White Hispanic. He needs to change his name to something innocuous . . . perhaps Carlos Danger.

so campbell’s never sued libtard fag warhol? or marilyn monroe’s photogs? or anyone’s photogs for the images he used that others took?

and the quote is dead accurate.

You are correct, and in this case Zimmerman probably has an additional defense because the image depicts a public event which was photographed and recorded by multiple cameras, and perhaps even by Zimmerman himself. So there is little to no creative content in the photograph, as others have pointed out the exact same gesture from a similar viewpoint is caught in the video of the proceedings.

Granted, an exact copy or reproduction of the AP photograph would seem likely to infringe their copyright, but a work which is based on a gesture made by someone in public, and recorded simultaneously by many people seems to be a much more uncertain issue. Particularly when it may well be a commentary on the media, and the biases of AP itself.

I didn’t know making a painting of a picture was plagiarism.

It's probably not a painting but rather posterizing with photoshop or even a free online service.

He stole the picture, changed the contrast, and substituted colors, and put it out as his own. Takes less than 5 minutes.

A 2-minute job with a free photoeditor. I could have done better if I gave it 5 or 10 minutes.

I am selling this for $1,000,000 with all proceeds to be donated to Right-to-Life.

Whether Zimmerman (is he related to Bob Dylan, by the way?) is "acting out" inappropriately is for the buying public to decide.

He's got good reason to feel a little bitter after being mauled by Leviathan for the audacious use of deadly force in successfully saving his own life.

Be that as it may, after some of the public money spent on Mapplethorpe's work and the high brow art forms foisted upon us by capricious children like Ms. Cyrus, the self-appointed Dauphins of cultural correctness don't have much moral high-ground left for them to stand on in bleating about George's art work.

I wouldn't buy it, but it's a pretty good likeness of that monster prosecutor, both natural and metaphorical.

That's a good question. To know the answer somebody ought to check his singing voice - if he can't sing, then yes, he is related to Bob Dylan.

hahaha

There is an art documentary where they are talking to some younger artists. They were invited by Andy to his apartment for lunch.

He serves them Campbells Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch.

And all the young artists are whispering to each other and trying to figure out if Andy is having a joke on them. They finally figured out he wasn't when one of them checked his cupboards and they were stuffed full of Campbells soups.

That shit makes me LOL every time I think about it!

Parody is not plagiarism.

Parodying iconography is iconographic, sorta like a double negative.

Today they are going after George “Don’t Call Me Robert” Zimmerman and tomorrow they are attacking FReepers for savaging photos without a license.

He should just buy the AP wire photo online (for around $15) and stick it in a jar of urine. The NEA would give him $50k easy for such quality art. No doubt.
