Amanda Knox was found guilty of murder today by an Italian court, the latest twist in a murder case that goes back to 2007.

The verdict reached by the two judges and six jurors came after several hours of deliberations at the Florence courthouse.

The judge sentenced Knox to 28 years in prison. Her former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and co-defendant was sentenced to 25 years.

Two Italian judges and six jurors began deliberations earlier today. If Knox and her former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito are found guilty, the court is also expected to pronounce a prison sentence.

The prosecutor has asked for a 26 prison term for the murder for Knox and Sollecito, plus another four years for Knox on a related libel conviction.

This is the fourth time Knox faced a verdict on the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher while they were roommates in Perugia, Italy. Knox, now 26, and Sollecito, 29, were convicted in 2009.

After serving four years in prison they were freed in 2011 when an appeals court threw out the murder conviction. But Italy's supreme court ordered another appeals court to rehear the case. Kercher's sister Stephanie and brother Lyle were in the courtroom for the verdict.

Knox, who is sporting a new, short haircut, remained in her hometown of Seattle for the latest trial. Sollecito was in court today earlier today, but was not present for the verdict....

Sooner or later the politicos were going to get her.

How many times should one be expected to face these prosecutors? I guess the answer is, "as long as it takes."

In order to get a first hand look at justice in Perugia, be sure to read "The Monster of Florence" by Doug Preston and Mario Spezi.

I have no idea of her politics. But I have unspoken thoughts that she's probably one of Obama's honorary daughters because of her hedonistic life-style overseas.....living with a guy(s), being around drugs, druggies and assorted eurotrash thugs and bums.

What's there about her that a liberal wouldn't love?

No idea if she is guilty or not, but, I think Amanda will speak Italian like a native before she ever sees another day of freedom.

She served plenty of time there but she is free and back in the states now.

You don’t believe any woman can be evil? We should stop bring any woman to trial for any crime?

What the hell kind of an argument is that???????

Sounds to me like you're a woman hater who believes that any woman accused of any crime is automatically guilty despite the ruling of a country's supreme court.......

You're creepy.........

They make good supercars?

Since you’ve followed the case so closely, tell me this: Why was there forensic evidence linked to Guede (footprints, hair, skin, other DNA) all over the crime scene, but none from Knox?

I blame Meredith Kercher’s parents; they’ve been pushing for Amanda to be retried and this time around, convicted. Meredith’s parents refuse to accept that the real killer was arrested and tried and convicted and that Amanda had nothing to do with it. Amanda was just the roommate, that’s all.

And just how did you arrive at that conclusion? Do you know Knox, or something that the Italian courts do not? If so, do tell.

Did she do cartwheels and make out with her current boyfriend after the decision?

No but the prosecutor did.

Not just that, but she was forced to stay in the jail until the evidence clearly showed that she was entirely innocent.

She did not live with a guy.

Being around drugs? That makes her guilty?

I don't know if she was guilty.

As for 'nonexistent' evidence, there were the six 37 bloody footprints found on the carpet with luminol, the same size as Amanda's shoes. There were the five drops of blood in the bathroom mixing Amanda's and Meredith Kercher's DNA. Of the two knives used to kill Amanda Kercher, one matched in size and length one of Amanda's kitchen knives, which had Amanda's DNA on the handle and Kercher's DNA on the blade.

There was Amanda's purchase of cleaning products after the murder, the mopping of Kercher's bathroom floor, and Amanda's borrowing of her boyfriend's mop.

There was Amanda taking a shower in the bathroom after the murder and claiming not to see the bloody footprint on the bath mat.

There was more.

On the other hand, Amanda was subjected to police misconduct and prosecutorial misconduct. She was subject to Anti-American prejudice.

The media tried her case in public, using Amanda's inadmissible journal and inadmissible witness statements.

We've discussed evidence, innocent arguments for evidence, Italian misconduct, and the confession of Rudy Guede (which places Amanda and her boyfriend at the scene with him) at some length in this earlier thread.
