Just spitballing here, but could that be the reason that Obama refers to the group as ISIL? I know I’m giving him a lot of credit, the benefit of the doubt, and even an “out” in terms of his motives for using that term (which I STILL believe is because he is honoring their view of the Levant), but that was the first thing that came to mind.

It could be that Obama is referring to this terrorist group to avoid linking it to this website, but my guess is that - he wants to create the chaos - confusion between the two.
Your theory and the theory presented on the web page may both be correct.
