[S]hot dead by female police officer 'who mistook Nintendo Wii controller ... for a gun'
The Daily Mail Online ^ | February 19, 2014 | Daily Mail Reporter

Police in Georgia on Friday served a warrant for a probation violation at the trailer park home of a man and his son, a 17-year-old aspiring Marine. In the process of serving the warrant on the boy's father, an officer fatally shot the teen.

His crime: according to his attorney, he did nothing more than answer the door while holding a controller of a Nintendo Wii.

Police in Euharlee, Georgia - about 50 miles northwest of Atlanta - however, claim that Christopher Roupe pointed a gun at the female officer when he opened the door, which prompted her to fire a live round at the aspiring military man.

No witnesses reported seeing the boy holding any weapons, and authorities won't say whether a weapon was found at the scene.

'It just doesn't add up,' Cole Law, who is representing the Roupe family, told wsbtv.com.

As for the claim that Roupe was holding a gun, Law says he's seen no evidence supporting the officer's claim.

'We don't know where that statement came from. The eyewitnesses on the scene clearly state that he had a Wii controller in his hand. He heard a knock at the door. He asked who it was, there was no response so he opened the door and upon opening the door he was immediately shot in the chest,' Law said.....

Why does it matter that the cop is female?

this was a probation raid on a trailer park, so the situation was not as peachy as we’d like to believe.

Depends on how you want to define “trailer park”.

Lots of them are actually RV parks where most of them cost north of $500,000 and the park models are around $150,000.

Sooooo...the Constitution excludes persons living in trailer parks. When did it become unconstitutional to answer the door while armed, especially when directly asked by the young men, who was outside and the cop did not reply. Many people in this day and age would be armed while questioning who was at their door, prior to opening the door. If I didn’t know the person, God knows I would be armed.

This is one of the most disgusting police stories I have ever read.

If I answer the door at night, I have my gun in one hand behind my back.

Apparently, holding a gun within the confines of your own home is punishable by death.

'The officer felt endangered' doesn't wash here, unless you accept that an officer can otherwise control the situation from start to finish, including inviting themselves over to your place.

Look at this — there were two officers there not just one:

GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that two Euharlee police officers were serving two probation violation warrants Friday night...

You have to ask what brought the country to such a state that cops are so afraid of being shot by citizens that they routinely shoot people with remotes, cellphones, and objects resembling a gun.

What has happened to the level of trust that there once was in American society? It was not like this.

I know it’s not coming back.

I believe that it will come back once we have an administration that does not consider the people of this country to be its enemies. “The fish rots from the head”.

No special treatment for government employees. Period.

Treat her as any mundane who shot before identifying what he was shooting at, and before determining whether the target actually posed a deadly threat, would be treated.

There were two officers there serving that warrant — not just one — so there should not have been a fear factor for the officer knocking on the door.

If they believed that there was going to be trouble then they would have brought more officers with them to allay their fears — but they didn’t.

The WSBTV News report notes there were "Roupe's young life ended Friday night when Euharlee police officers showed up at the door of his home..." [Emphasis added]

It's peculiar that the names of the man and his son were identified, where they lived was identified, pictures of the boy and his home were shown, but there was no name or picture of the cop who shot the boy.

It'll get all Ukrainey here before that ever is the situation here again...

Yep there were two officers there:

Both should be held accountable including Sherry Lang for her big lie under the cover of authority.
