Disturbing video of a police incident in an Oklahoma parking lot shows a man who had committed no crime dying after being roughed up and violently restrained by four cops–all while his grief-stricken wife watched in horror.

The man, 44-year-old Luis Rodriguez, died in a Moore, Oklahoma movie theater parking lot. Police were responding to a reported domestic disturbance. Rodriguez’s wife admitted to slapping the couple’s 19-year-old daughter in the face over a disagreement about the girl’s behavior. Rodriguez, however, was not involved and had not done anything wrong, according to local news reports.

But when police arrived, they wanted to question Rodriguez. According to the Moore police department, Rodriguez was not cooperative, and cops were forced to handcuff and restrain him.

Imagine how the 19 year old daughter feels. She will probably carry some amount of feelings of responsibility for he fathers death with her for the rest of her life.

Take a close look at the police in the video. They don’t look like thugs. They even thought they were right. But they ARE thugs. They just have a self perception problem.

Free people don’t kiss apparatchik butt to avoid their weekly beating.

Do you seriously think that the LEOs that did this would be anything but confrontational?

If he wasn’t a physical danger to the police, then why was he put down like he was.

I also don’t think cops should be allowed to investigate themselves. An elected panel of citizens should be paid for this express purpose.

I suspect the cops assumed it was the man that had hit the child and over-reacted out of rage.

Point is, you said you have to wait to see what clinical cause of death was, but clinical cause of death isn’t a factor if it was brought on by the cops actions.

If it happened the way the headline says then heads should roll. But the story itself reads somewhat differently. Need more info.

Agreed. I'm far from a jackboot-licker, but the headline seems inflammatory based on everything i've read, however, the guy is dead over a minor deal, so something clearly went wrong.

One way or the other these police were responsible for the man's death.

I do draw a distinction between cops like these and the Fullerton cop who told Kelly Thomas he was going to "f*** him up", pulled on vinyl gloves and beat him to death.

But they were produced by the same system that is becoming as much a threat to the law abiding as the criminal.

Thanks for the link. If not for Brit news, we’d be in the dark on many issues.

Yep. That is the core problem here.

I confess that I’d like to see a video like this (from beginning to end) where the guy is able to get ahold of one of the cops guns and shoot (not necessarily kill) every one of them, and then lock himself in the back of one of the squad cars and turn himself in - all on camera. And at his trial he can use videos like this one to justify his actions.

Fair enough to distinguish between 2nd and 1st degree murder.

One could also claim that their neighbor is involved in suspected drug activity.

So... if Rodriguez had been polite and respectful to the police than he most likely would still be alive. Sure the police over-reacted and should be punished to the full extent of the law but the situation could have easily been avoided by common sense.

You sound like the kind of Muslim apologists that we have all come to expect after every terrorist attack: "Yes, the 9/11 terrorists were wrong to kill a few thousand innocent people in the name of Allah, but you have to understand that this would have never happened if not for the evil Jooos and imperialist Americans."

We hear the same sort of BS crappola from lefties when excusing certain minorities from criminal behavior: "Sure they should be punished, but go lenient because their violent criminal conduct is really the fault of racist white people, the Tea Party, George Bush, and global warming."

... and you sound like the Trayvon Martin supporters who claim it was George Zimmerman's fault he had to shot the thug. In both cases polite and respectful behavior from both parties would have defused the situation. In both cases one party was inappropriately aggressive and things escalated.

"You" sound like the liberal apologist for bad behavior...

There was a man on Utube who was asphyxiated during a traffic stop by two cops. He kept telling them he could not breathe. Then he didn’t.

That's what this guy said too. Looks like they just kept on him until they were sure he was dead.
