New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez needs a new hairdresser — or a new stance on gay marriage.
Martinez was recently dropped by her hair stylist, Antonio Darden, who is gay.
Darden told a local news station that he cut the governor’s hair three times, but won’t do it again as long as she continues to oppose gay marriage.
“The governor’s aides called not too long ago, wanting another appointment to come in,” he told KOB-TV. “Because of her stances and her views on this, I told her aides no. They called the next day, asking if I’d changed my mind about taking the governor in and I said no.”
Martinez has said she believes marriage should be between a man and woman.
Darden, a popular stylist in Santa Fe and the owner of Antonio’s Hair Studio, has been with his partner for 15 years.
“It’s just equality, dignity for everyone,” he said. “Everybody should be allowed the right to be together.”
Gay marriage is not recognized in New Mexico.

Since barbers are licensed by the state, however, one of the governor’s aids might make a discreet offer to the hairdresser that “if you like being a hairdresser, you might get to remain a hairdresser”, to paraphrase Obama.
My bet is the msm silence will be deafening.

Queers are allowed to deny service, but Christians are not? This only makes sense in the bizarro world of leftism. In the real world, freedom of religion, freedom of association, and human decency would mean that everyone would have this right. Freedom should not be limited to just those with political connections.

Anyone wanna guess how many offers to cut the Governor’s hair from right-thinking New Mexicans have come in since this story broke?
Put it this way, when it comes to hair stylists, Martinez is probably set for life.
Here’s what I wish the Governor would do. Go public with this (more so), then say, but I have a choice, since this hairdresser won’t serve me, I will go to one who will. Just make it all big and noticeable. Just to make the point if you don’t like what a business is doing, you have every right to go somewhere else.
