I’ve never had luck backstepping the flash player but I have Firefox. Build 21 was a good one and I usually stick to it. And just because you have the latest does not mean that it is functioning properly. I find flash to be buggy at best and wish there was a better way ;’(
Good luck
PS: Sometimes it is simply a matter of how late you signed on to a live feed. Snooze you lose (you get in but the quality is crap).
Eeevil Bastages at Verizon are trying to force you to upgrade to FIOS.
Ok.
Just a thought since that seemed to be the problem with my videos.
Youtube seems to be a lousy feed itself.
:-/
I hear what you are saying. It truly sounds like it is an Internet speed issue for you. I use YouTube a fair amount and have problems with neither but I have a very fast download speed. Quite frankly, over the years, I have never found changing settings of various types to work very well. While sometimes that is the problem, it is often download speed that is the culprit. Sometimes it is the source of the live feed.
Anymore, if you are running much less than 20MB download your just going to get buffering from time to time and live feeds can be problematic. And again, on the live feed thing, sometimes the source tries to do it on the cheap and it just doesn’t work. Also, big events overtax the server. Even HBOGo crashed the other evening.

I Pay for 18mbps happily get 20 consistently on Uverse
Your problem may be XP.
Before I finally bought a new Win7 laptop and Desktop, my XP got slower and slower. Previously, I could open several video windows. But, websites and videos grew in size, my XP just could not handle the load.

Additionally, depending on your browser version and flash version, Firefox around version 12 had problems with the version of Flash player.
Upgrade one and it created conflicts with another.
I finally quit updating most of the Win7 OS and programs. I upgrade Java, for example, and it conflicts with some other programs. I upgrade Win 7 OS and it conflicts. Firefox and Flash, the same.
I am currently at Firefox 15 (28 or so is the current on) and my Flash is about 10 generations behind. But they work, and I am tired of installing software updates and upgrades that cause problems with other installed software.
Thanks for the link. Gotta try it later.
dang
Youtube overkill
we pay for 50 mbps and actual speed varies greatly
Most ISP’s throttle Youtube, that’s why. Try watching the same video but on youtube.ca.
I spent about half an hour (maybe more) on the phone with my DSL provider, and I'm getting the range that I'm paying for, though various online speed tests give wildly fluctuating numbers. At any rate, I was very impressed with the time they took and the attempts they made to see if there was any problem on their end.
I got a suggestion on an Adobe forum to download and run a "deep clean" program. I may try that before too long.
At any rate, probably about all I can do is accept the fact that now for whatever reason, flash videos don't play as well as they used to and live feeds don't play at all. Who knows? It may be that if I just forget about it for a month or so that one day I'll go back on and it'll work fine again.
Thanks again, fellow FReepers!
Upgrade the Router & Modem (DocSis3).... Done.
Thank you for the information. I knew something had happened.
