He acknowledges that he hasnt visited the Palmer home but he deals with aggressive cats on a near-daily basis.
If you watch my show, you know that within five minutes, the human component is really identified, Galaxy said during a phone interview.
We realize this behavior doesnt occur in a vacuum. Thats really the important thing, is that theres always a context.
Lux may have scratched a 7-month-old boy, but the attack began after the boy pulled his tail. When he reacted by scratching the child, owner Lee Palmer kicked the cat. It was at that point that Lux went over the edge.
Palmer has said in news stories that the cat has a history of violence but that behavior could be due to a physical problem. The first thing the family should do, Galaxy says, is take the cat to a veterinarian.
It could be anything from an abscessed tooth to a brain tumor and anything in between, he says, noting that cats in pain may tend to act out...
...Galaxy pointed out that children age 6 or younger should never be left unsupervised with an animal. Cats are prey animals that defend their territory when threatened and may feel the need to put their claws out when provoked.

Cat bites are exceptionally dangerous. I’ve known two people (an ex-girlfriend and an ex-wife) who had to be hospitalized and hooked up to anti-biotic IVs for a few days to prevent AMPUTATION of their respective, bitten hands. No joke and no exaggeration.
What if the cat did NOT attack the guy?....But DID attack YOU every day?
As was the case here?
I performed ist aid on her many times..:) that sounds funny.
She had serious injuries ...wouldnt even let me trim the claws.
I think it bit me once....only once.
I love a common sense post. :)
The toddler who pulls the cat’s tail isn’t being mean, and neither is the cat who defends itself. Now, sometimes older kids torment animals out of meanness...in which cases a good butt whipping is called for.
It amazes me that people adopt dogs and cats without bothering to obtain the slightest bit of animal knowledge. I guess they expect them to behave like furry people, or something.
(And Maine Coon cats are beautiful)!
I was bitten on the hand by a friend’s cat. Hopped up and down, cursed, cleaned it well (or so I thought), bandaged it up and went to bed. I woke up with a nasty case of cellulitis that required a 4 hour ER visit, complete with IV antibiotics and a prescription for another week’s worth of oral antibiotics. NOT fun!
Poor kitty.
