As much as I love Ronald Reagan, his version of “Law and Order” (1953), while an agreeable film, really doesn’t hold a candle to the 1932 original with Walter Huston.

Ed Norton doesn’t make it in Red Dragon, the remake of Manhunter.

The Wizard of Oz was so much better than the several silent and B&W versions that it would qualify.

I enjoyed the “True Grit” remake. Usually won’t watch remakes as the almost always suck. Example: the original Robocop is a multi-layered masterpiece; the remake looked like dreck from what i saw of the promos.

The recent remakes of Total Recall and RoboCop have to go down as the worst.

The original or at least the one everyone thinks of as the original Frankenstein was far, far better than the later one with Nero.

Best... Houston’s Maltese Falcon with Humphrey Bogart as opposed to the early 1930 Ricardo Cortez version.

Another best, TRUE GRIT. NO Glen Campbell or Kim Darby to mess it up.

Worst remakes, too many to name. Winchester ‘73 TV version, same for RED RIVER TV version.

Thankfully no one has messed up SHANE -yet.

“Pale Rider” was to some extent a remake of “Shane”. It wasn’t bad tho.

No matter how good it is, I won’t watch anything with Matt Damon in it.

The third Brady Bunch Movie where Mike becomes President is the one which jumps the shark. It may have killed off there being any more movies.

Despite that, Autumn Reeser was the prettiest Marcia yet.

Best: The Maltese Falcon with Humphrey Bogart et al, a remake of a 1931 movie with Ricardo Cortez

Worst: The Manchurian Candidate with Jon Voight; Sinatra, Harvey, Lansbury, et al were so much better, and the plot wasn't twisted to be anti-capitalist

The worst (and most unnecessary) remake ever was Red Dragon. Ridley Scott turned it down because he said they had no business remaking Manhunter. He was right.

Nolan's Batman re-boot is the only Batman anything I've ever enjoyed, so I'd probably call that the best remake.
