I am coming to despise cops with each passing day. They’re a long, far cry from “Protect and Serve.”

If I were libel for this man’s actions, that emotional reaction would make me remove him from a job that involves armed law enforcement.

He needs psych evaluation a termination notice and an indictment about his glee after the shooting. Fixed it.

The cops are out of control.
They have no regard for life of any kind.

Are there cases where shooting a dog is justified,
Absolutely NOT! When I grew up in the 50's, 60's and 70's, there were NEVER any incidents of police EVER shooting neighborhood dogs..........And that includes dogs that escaped their yards and even bit people..........

Maybe the dogs being shot see something in these cops not obvious to the naked, human eye.

How about:

I saw video of cops with a dog wandering around calmly as you please, they subdued it then shot it. It hadn’t been aggressive at all

Bingo! You have the perfect description of the “valiant” Officer Brice Woolley. What a major league pussy he is!

Somebody posted here a long time ago that he thought that some cops enjoyed the thrill of legally shooting someone. He hereby amends his statement to include “legally shooting a person or an animal.”

I don’t condone what the cop did BUT anyone who thinks that pit bulls are “family” pets have some screws loose.

Another one sided story. Playing on the emotions of dog lovers. As a father that had to go to one of these dog owners and tell them that if their dog came at my family and nipped at my wife again while they walked in public streets pushing the stroller w/ my newborn, I would personally do exactly what was done in this story. I have little empathy with dogs (and their owners) that can’t stay in their own dang yard and threaten the public safety. Human life > dangerous dog life. Keep your dogs locked up, especially those with over 300 lbs per inch bite power.

Pit bull gets “retired” because he was out attacking the neighbors and we’re supposed to get all weepy over it? I don’t see why.

Keywords: after it hopped over their garden fence last Wednesday.
IOW’s the dog was not in it’s own yard and the “protective of it’s yard” is not a true statement.

Even if he had a legitimate reason to shoot and kill that dog he should have had the tact and understanding to realize how traumatized the family that adopted that dog felt.
The family is 'them', so he didn't care. The animal control officer was one of 'us', so he shared his glee with him. And it was reciprocated.
This cop (and the animal control officer if he covered for him) should be fired for falsification and obstruction. And the cop should go for a psychological evaluation; there is nothing remotely normal about his reaction.
