Just because other place have worse cops doesn’t mean our cops are good

Your logic is sound. However, slamming our cops without ANY real in-your-face knowledge of other cops in the world is just hollow, whining and shallow thinking.

Compared to the THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES I lived, worked and traveled in OUR COPS ARE THE BEST.
I KNOW this runs counter to the FReepers who, for the most part, are anti-US cops, but it's so very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very TRUE.

As I say to the cop-hating FReepers, GO LIVE IN A THIRD WORLD country for a month, no, a week, no, a day, NO, an hour and you will CLEARLY see what I mean.

At that point FReepers either ignore me or blast me again with NONSENSE about the U.S. cops...not listening to anything but their own anti-cop screed. Lol. Makes me think that they all had bad experiences with cops. I NEVER did have a bad experience with any cops, here or abroad.

Of course, LONG, LONG, LONG AGO I learned to say the words: "I'm sorry and I was wrong," words which I RARELY see any FReeper write...and NEVER about cops.

“I NEVER did have a bad experience with any cops, here or abroad.”

Well, maybe you aren’t in the best position to judge them then? Perhaps you should leave that to the folks who have seen both sides of the boys in blue, instead of those who only encounter “Officer Friendly”?

Remember the saying, “a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged”? The converse of that is liberals who haven’t been victims tend to attribute the best motives to criminals, thinking that their crimes are just caused by poverty or bad upbringing. It’s the same way with police abuse. Those who have never encountered it have a much easier time accepting the excuses for it. Once it happens to you, not so much.

I’ve lived abroad as well and one thing about cops is universally true: you don’t want to be around them. Their reason for existing is to act as the muscle of the state. Beating and jailing people is their job. That’s why they carry clubs and handcuffs. Its not a fashion statement.

There’s nothing wrong with slamming our cops for doing bad things without having been in a third world country. The behavior of cops in other countries and exposure to same is 100% besides the point. You don’t have to have ever stepped foot in another country to see that TPD decided there was going to be a riot Saturday night and when the citizens didn’t provide them with one they made one happen, and you don’t have to have stepped foot in another country to know that is a very bad thing.

Frankly if US cops want people to be less anti-cop they should be less assholes. With no knock raid on the wrong address, creating a riot when they couldn’t get one, shooting dogs for no good reason and the host of other things they do all by themselves to bring shame upon the badge they’ve brought this on themselves.

Your post needs less caps lock and more logic.

Our cops are bad and getting worse daily. I say that as a military veteran, son of a retired Sheriff’s Deputy, and as someone who’s spent time abroad.

The stats speak for themselves, but I’m sure you’d rather just clamp down on that caps lock key and help make that thin blue line just a bit more of a thick blue wall.
