APNewsBreak: Obama orders to test workplace ideas
Yahoo News ^ | 04/06/2014 | AP

Lacking congressional backing to raise wages or end gender pay disparities, President Barack Obama is imposing his policies directly on federal contractors, following a long-established tradition of presidents exerting their powers on a fraction of the economy directly under their control.

This week, the president will sign an executive order that would prohibit federal contractors from retaliating against employees who discuss their pay with each other.

In addition, Obama on Tuesday will direct the Labor Department to adopt regulations requiring federal contractors to provide compensation data based on sex and race.

Federal contracting covers about one-quarter of the U.S. workforce and includes companies ranging from Boeing to small parts suppliers and service providers. As a result, presidential directives can have a wide and direct impact. Such actions also can be largely symbolic, designed to spur action in the broader economy.

Federal contractors, however, worry that additional compensation data could be used to fuel wage related lawsuits, said James Plunkett, director of labor policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

What's more, he said, such orders create a two-tiered system where rules apply to federal contractors but not to other employers. Those contractors, knowing that their business relies on the government, are less likely to put up a fight, he said.

It didn’t go out the window. It was just coerced acceptance. I’m not saying that Obama and his AA idiots won’t try the same thing with defense contractors, but they are big boys and they know how to play dirty, too. They won’t lay down and take it up the keester without getting paid in some manner.

Bottom line is that Obama may get his way, but we will all pay out the a$$ for it. His budgets are meaningless. And, the more and more he tries to pull this crap on companies dealing with government, the more and more they get tougher and play dirty to. He is frankly just too effing stupid to realize this.

This week, the president will sign an executive order ...

We're probably never going to hear that from Obama guard dog Yahoo News and congressional RINOs that constitutionally undefined executive orders don't have the force of law unless they are legislatively supported by Congress.

arderkrag:".. why would anyone do that anyway? I'm sure there's some convoluted reasoning involved
("it could sow dissent among employees" or some other nonsense), but is there actually a good reason?

Yeah , how can you have "Income Inequality " when people can't see where the 'inequality ' occurs ?
The numbers will soar ! That is the purpose !
You can't have INCOME ENVY without knowing what somebody is paid , and that is the purpose .

(from the article):"Federal contractors, however, worry that additional compensation data could be used to fuel wage related lawsuits,
said James Plunkett, director of labor policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The above statement from the article will provide the data for the Fed to litigate/ sue the bussines , and small business community
by using their own data which they are now required to provide ! ... Brilliant !! The business community which has supported this administration will be shot in the foot by their own data, which they provide .
Niccoli Machiavelli immediately comes to mind !

I’m prior service and once went to an interview for a job with a defence contractor. The interviewers were sickly looking, creepy weirdos with attitudes (see radical social left), and the interview was very short.

Just tweak a few regulations and definitions, and it will be 100% of the U.S. workforce.

"Is anyone else extremely disturbed by this?!"

Yes--the few, who aren't highly paid by the debt regime and don't mind seeing the truth are irked by it to various extents. But that's only the tip of the iceberg of debt. The number of government employees at state and local levels is huge.

About "70 million" people receiving incomes from various levels of government and government-linked businesses receive large incomes but are steeped in debt and spending all that they receive.

Meanwhile,...

There are over 19 million state and local government employees. State and local government employees lobby for and receive federal funding.

We had a McD’s close because of this. Was on Navy leased property but accessible to the public. Employees were told if Obama signed the minimum wage increase, they would have to close. He did and they did.

I'm sure there's some convoluted reasoning involved ("it could sow dissent among employees" or some other nonsense), but is there actually a good reason?
At my work (private, not a federal contractor), it's so that the new field techs don't know that a) they're being paid $13/hr, while the older fellows came in at $20/hr and b) that they're capped at $18/hr, while the older fellows have no wage cap. Can't let the newbies agitate for better pay.

B. Hussein Obama continues as the Democrat leader of the Anti-Work Counterculture thanks to doormat Republicans such Boehner, Cantor, Ryan, Issa, McConnell, and McCain.

Counterculture Democrats reap what they sow, and doormat Republicans provide the fertilizer.

What can possibly go wrong?
