Well, it does take a long time to get to the mailbox on the 19.5 HP riding mower.

Just think of the extra time to find Racing News to post on the threads.

It’s for the Chil’rens, right?

One of JR's Crew gave this sticker to Mama at Her office today. So far as She knows these were given to Crew at the "Ringing of the Bell" at HMS. Don't know if they are going to be given out/sold/available other than this way. Kinda neat living in the Heart of NASCAR land.

That’s stunning speed for a stock car. I know the temps were optimum too, but that’s impressive.

Jeep JK can be stripped of all the niceties, and they would have a lower (x4-x5) cost vehicle with better performance. Good on Mooresville, but I prefer to ford as deep as my snorkel allows;-)

Shallow banking and serious speed at Michigan prove that restrictor plates are unnecessary in my opinion. The drivers will slow for the turns.

Its been routine for at least a decade for them to enter turn 1 at 200+mph. When I worked security there I used to get stationed right at the entrance to turn one where they were right out by the wall and wound out and going full tilt. That’s astounding speed for that much car and it rocks you in the wind.

Yes.
I’ve been standing at the fence on the straightaway in Indy when Indy cars come by at 240 (back in the mid 1990s).
It was like a shock wave.

You guys are so lucky. The only race I’ve seen were the mules at the Swains Flat fairgrounds

When I was a kid in Cleveland, there was a an old time 2-bay gas/service station 3 blocks from our house. The guy who ran it had a 1949 Ford flathead stock car that he raced on 1/4 mile tracks in the area.

His partner/engine builder was a really skilled old guy emigrated from Hungary, he was a machinist at one of the tooling outfits.

They sort of adopted me, I learned a helluva lot.

Ford Mustang GT Aluminator XS to Pace Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington:

When the gleaming ruby red Mustang GT Aluminator XS paces the field of thundering NASCAR Sprint Cup machines at the Bojangles' Southern 500 on Saturday, April 12, at Darlington Raceway, it also will be waving the green flag for a year-long recognition of Mustang's 50th anniversary.

U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) is the honorary pace car driver for the event and will start the race behind the wheel. NASCAR veteran Brett Bodine will pilot the Mustang GT Aluminator XS pace car for the remainder of the event.

The Mustang GT Aluminator XS pace car started its life as a 420-horsepower 2013 Mustang GT, but with the Aluminator XS crate engine and a mix of parts from the Ford Racing Boss 302S and the Cobra Jet programs, it makes 500 horsepower. The Aluminator XS engine itself features a lightweight aluminum cylinder block with cross-bolted main bearing caps and thick main bearing bulkheads for bottom-end strength. It has four-valve-per-cylinder BOSS, fully CNC-machined aluminum heads. In addition, the 5.0L, 302 cubic-inch powerplant features forged pistons with low-friction coating.

Mustang's 50th anniversary celebrations will begin with concurrent events April 17-20 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Ford Motor Company and its dealers will host other national and local anniversary events throughout 2014.(Ford Racing), see images of the car on the 2014 Pace Car page.(4-11-2014)

My grandson has a one owner 64.5 Mustang that is ripe for restoration. He also has a 68 Bronco with the half cab that he got in a trade for basically the frame and running gear of a Strope prepared model

SWEET!!!! Don’t let that ‘Stang get away from Him. Tell Him to start buying parts one at a time and then it won’t hurt all at once. When He gets everything then GIT ON THE RESTORATION!!!
