Martin played just over 30 minutes tonight.
Bylsma said that Orpik’s injury was different than the injury that had him out previously.
Could see Bortuzzo in Pittsburgh on Friday. I think it wise to make certain Brooks is healed and ready for the next round. And ‘Borts’ has done a good job in relief.
Go Pens!
Amazing how Bylsma can lead the Pens to do well, but Team USA did terrible in the Olympics.
Yup. Bylsma’s good, but not a Babcock (yet).
Yes, as far as the coaching of the Olympic team, it was a Bylsma ....
I agree. Why don’t they just schedule the game in another arena in NY/NJ?
Blackhawks/Wild played Tuesday night, I understand the Blackhawks even went back to Chicago and the two play next Friday night.
But who knows?
Kings come down to earth, Ducks win.... 1 and 2 periods were good, I couldn’t watch the rest but I see Anaheim nailed it, 3-2.

Our prayers for Marty St. Louis who lost his mother.
Amen, it happened suddenly. Prayers for those effected and my condolences.
Condolences to the Martin St. Louis family.
St. Louis to play for Rangers after mother’s death

Yes, I think it’s what his mother would want
but
Let’s Go Pens!
F Chris Kreider scores on the PP from a sharp angle past Pens G Fleury midway through Period 1, then Derick Brassard cashes in a rebound
from close range to give the seemingly inspired N.Y. Rangers a 2-0 lead into the Intermission of elimination Game Five in Pittsburgh.
The Pens' Evgeni Malkin follows up a big save by Rangers G Lundqvist with a goal on a tremendous solo effort early in the 2nd Period,
but New York counter with two quick goals, the latest by McDonagh on the PP to make the margin 4-1 at the Intermission in Game 5.
In the Blackhawk/Wild game, I didn't like the hard hit and then the pay back later on. I suppose you can say that's part of the game. Both players hit were left woozy, I don't like to see someone stumbling to walk. That was the retaliation, the 1st hit left the player face down for a few moments on the ice, oh well.
Interesting reading here, I haven’t been able to watch the Pens/Rangers series closely.
“Mr. Fraser,
In the PIT/NYR Round 2 series, there have been two separate occasions where Marc Staal has taken blatant shots to the head of Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby. In Game 3, Staal hit Crosby with a viscous crosscheck to the back of the head. I was shocked that a penalty wasn’t even called on the ice! The league then came out the following day and said that no punishment would be handed down for the hit. The following night, in Game 4, Staal again went after Crosby’s head. This time it was a blatant elbow. Again, it was from behind, to the back of the head, nearly knocking the helmet off Crosby’s head. Again, there was no call on the ice, and no action taken by the league.
Can you explain to me how the league and officials, in this era of “no tolerance” for hits to the head, can allow this kind of thing to go on? How can there be no call on the ice? Obviously, since there was no action for the league, or penalty called, in Game 3, Staal figured he was cleared to do it again in Game 4. I mean, if the NHL doesn’t care about the well-being of its marquee players, why should Staal?
Thanks for listening. Any light you can shed on this subject would be great!”

Thanks for posting that. I agree completely with Mr. Fraser but what will be done? Crosby is getting illegally hammered but he’s supposed to take it silently. I noticed last night the NBC commentator calling him out for complaining to the refs . I haven’t noticed them pointing out the blantant illegal hits.
Bad officiating is a big reason the NHL is a second rate league and new people have trouble understanding what’s going on. (I’ve tried getting relatives interested in hockey)
Unfortunately this is the NHL and there is no one questioning the league and officials on this. The NHL is populated with former goons in positions of power who see the post season as a special section where “let the players play” means let goonism run rampant. They like the league this way.

Matt Cooke played really well for the Wild. Go Cookie Monster!
Too bad the Pens extended the optional skate through gametime yesterday.
Today it’s go Habs and I don’t really have a dog in the LA/Anaheim fight but I sure do like Anahiems young guns (Etem, Smith-Pelly, Gibson).
