Woman Killed Hit Man With Her Bare Hands (Video)

Eight years ago, one woman was confronted by a hit man who had been hired by her husband to murder her. She killed the hit man with her bare hands. Now, on the heels of her husband's release from prison, she is encouraging others who find themselves in similar situations to fight for their lives.

Susan Walters of Portland, Oregon, was known as Susan Kuhnhausen back in 2006 when her then-husband Michael Kuhnhausen sent a hit man to murder her. Susan bravely fought back and wound up killing the hit man with her bare hands.

"His last words on this earth were 'you're strong,'" recalled Susan Walters to KPTV.

Walters says when she came home from her shift as an ER nurse one night, she found the man, Edward Haffey, waiting inside her home.

"Not having any clue why he was in my home, I knew, I could feel his intent to kill me," said Walters.

For 14 minutes, Walters put up an incredible fight against Haffey. She grabbed a hammer and used the back end of it to fight him off. At one point, she offered to call an ambulance if he relented, but he continued to fight back, so Walters had no choice but to kill him.

"I got the hammer and started hitting him with the hammer several times,” recalled Walters in 2006. “My father, the carpenter, always taught me a hammer could be used for self defense - the claw end would work the best.”

It was eventually uncovered that Michael Kuhnhausen had paid Haffey $50,000 to murder Walters. Kuhnhausen was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2007, but now, only eight years after the ordeal, the man who tried so desperately to kill his wife may walk out of jail a free man in just a few months. Walters says that although she is frightened by the idea of her former husband getting out of prison, she is ready to fight back if need be.

"Although I've forgiven my ex-husband for what he became, and what he did to me and all those who he loved, I cannot forget what he's capable of," said Walters, while offering advice to others in similar situations. "If you feel like, 'wow I don't feel like I can do that.' You can. You're stronger than you know.”

Walters is reportedly planning to approach the parole board to ensure that should he be released this year, she will remain protected.

About 20 years ago I had just dropped off a friend in front of his house and pulled away from the curb when a pickup truck barreled around the corner from behind and the driver thought I had pulled in front of him purposely - so the idiot followed me for about a mile - until we stopped at a red one car back. He threw his truck in park and leapt out of the cab. I could see him pull his knife a second before it and his arm came through the top of my partly opened driver side window. I bent his arm completely downward and twisted his hand. While we struggled the light changed and the car ahead vanished. I gunned it turning left onto a long, nearly empty boulevard. As his feet started to go out from under him I punched it - still holding his wrist. I was doing forty before he realized the situation he’d put himself in and by then it was over. I just released my grip and when he face planted he made a nice “pop” on the pavement before coming to a skidding halt alongside the curb. When he picked himself up all the fight was gone along with half his face.

When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

“remain protected”

Unfortunately in this case, she refers to a piece of paper...which is pretty thin “protection”.

I have a feeling there are measures taken that she is NOT informing the board about....

She used an improvised club (hammer)...

Ragnar Lothbrock says;

"No my friend. She used an improvised battle axe. What a fine Shield maiden she would make."

If she gets a gun, I bet she will serve more time in prison then her husband and the state and police will think it just.

Don’t ask permission, juts do it.

"It is better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission".

I can't tell you how many times, with few exceptions ("that's not your job") , that worked for me. Usually I was applauded for "initiative" or ignored, as things turned out better than non-action.

Oh maaaan, would I have loved to have seen that. Yeah, there are a lot of nuts out there who will not hesitate to take a life, yet liberals want people to believe we live in some kind of utopia where everyone is nice and dandy and if we do get into danger the police will be there is seconds to save our lives which is utter baloney. Every single day people die because they were unable to defend themselves, yet the only thing the press focuses on are the guns as if killers are going to magically disappear if guns are banned. I like to tell liberals the largest mass murder in NYC history before 911 was the Happyland club fire in which 82 people were roasted alive by one punk with a gas can. If somebody wants to kill, they don’t need a gun but a gun at times can mean the difference between whether you live or become another statistic.

I tell people who are against guns: Try having your life threatened.

While riding my one-speed bicycle home from my summer job, I was threatened by union thugs - two big, muscular guys in a truck. I was barely old enough to work, outside the school year, with permission from the school, and I was small/skinny for my age. It was certainly less dangerous than gangbangers, but only because I did exactly what they told me to (quit my job, since I wouldn't join their corrupt union). Since then, I have been a strong believer in martial arts training as a backup, and in armed self-defense as the preferred option.

No, Marie (and the title) are apparently right.

She didn't kill him with the hammer. That was the appetizer. According to the FR article at the time of the incident, she eventually choked him to death with her bare hands.

I just read an interview with Tom Sizemore where he said he was offered that part first, and didn’t want to do it because he didn’t want to beat up a woman on camera. So, he suggested that Tony Scott call a friend of his who he knew from theater, but hadn’t done a movie yet, and that was the start of Gandolfini’s Hollywood career.

Yes, I do know how “or” works. In addition, I know how commas work.

It is abundantly clear that you do not.

If I ever run across a nurse with a utility belt that includes a hammer, I’m not automatically going to assume she’s a member of the maintenance crew........

While riding my one-speed bicycle home from my summer job, I was threatened by union thugs -

Once when I was between jobs I scabbed at a supermarket in the deli department during a strike. One evening I was the last to leave. There was a car in the dark at the far end of the parking lot; I didn't think anything of it. When I started to drive away the car, without lights on, followed me. I got about half way home and decided to see if I was being followed or just being paranoid, so I turned into a side street. The car followed. So instead of driving home I drove to police headquarters, about six blocks from home and parked. The car kept going as I gave the finger to the occupants (counted three heads).

This was before cell phones were in common use, so I couldn't call the cops to be ready to pull them over.

Yeah...bingo! If the hitman were mafia she would have had a bullet in the brains.

And if he were any good he'd have ambushed her, in which case no weapon would have done her any good.

Get a gun Susan.

Knives, hammers, and crowbars have their advantages, too.

Even if we didn’t know how much damage Democrat policies do the the most vulnerable, to the people they claim to want to help, just knowing that Democrats support unions would be enough to tell us all we need to know.
