youtube ^

A nice documentary of the rock band 'Yes' without the focus on animosity as of so many other rock band reviews.

TOPICS: Music/Entertainment
KEYWORDS: music; yes
Rick Wakeman said when he first heard 'Yes' he thought they had it all wrong. For example the lead singer had to be 6'7' and sing soprano but Jon Anderson was 5'4' and sang alto.

The bass player tuned and played as if he was the lead guitar....but it sounded great....,enjoy

"Close to the edge, down by the river".

"Yes is Best" the stoner guitar players I knew used to say in the college days.

“Fragile” is one of the very few albums where I can listen to the entire thing, every track, straight through-nothing weak on it. This music is now out of style, but it had quality and merit.

I’m probably one of the few that thinks “Drama” was one of their better albums.

Tempus Fugit, rocks.

First concert I ever went to, still my favorite album of all time; Tales From Topographic Oceans. No barricades back then. Chris Squiers was 8 feet away.

I still remember the cheerleaders at my high school dancing to “Roundabout.” Those were some good old days!

Speak to me of summer, long winters longer than time can remember,
Setting up of other roads, travel on in old accustomed ways.
I still remember the talks by the water, the proud sons and daughters that,
In the knowledge of the land, spoke to me in sweet accustomed ways.

“I’m probably one of the few that thinks “Drama” was one of their better albums.”

I agree - it is their best album! When I heard “the Buggles” would be replacing Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman, I freaked. Then after hearing Drama, I realized that, as much as I liked Wakeman/Anderson, Geoff Downes/Trevor Horn had bred new life into the aging progressive band.
I’ve seen them live 12 times since the Relayer tour back in 1976 at Cobo Hall in Detroit:

Looking forward to seeing them again this summer!

I think it is Steve Howe’s best work, he was a monster on that one.

It also showed how crucial Squire’s backing vocals are to the Yes sound.

A band of amazing virtuosos...I’ve always loved them...since waaay back in the early 70’s. They don’t make music,...hell,...they CAN’t make music like this anymore.
