GILPIN, Colo. - Two women are hospitalized after being attacked by a moose.
Jacquie Boron, 50, said she and her friend, Ellen Marie Divis, 57, were walking their dogs in Gilpin County, near Black Hawk, Sunday around 10 a.m. when they heard a noise behind them and the moose went after them.
"All of a sudden I looked up and he was looking right at me and grunted and then charged, with his head down. He got me in the chest and that threw me back on the ground," said Boron.
She said she tried to get up, but he kept coming back.
"My friend Ellen ran for help and the dogs ran away too," she said. "He knocked me down first and charged me, then circled back and charged her again."
Boron said it It happened in a matter of minutes.

We make fun, but a moose is a large animal and can be very dangerous.
They injure more people in Alaska than bears do.

Bull moose are the most aggressive and dangerous animals in North America.

I was watching one of the Alaska wilderness type programs the other night...the one with the wild, backwoods family that was burnt out of house and home by the PTB. They were trekking to a new homestead, had a flat on their trailer, and were stuck out in the middle of nowhere. Dad and a few others unhitched the trailer and took off to find a replacement tire. Two sons were left behind to guard their belongings. Just before dad left, a moose walked out of the woods nearby...just sauntering along. Their guns came out immediately. One of the sons explained...the moose has a brain about the size of a walnut. They’re mean, aggressive creatures that will kill you in a heartbeat...not to be messed with. The sons didn’t seem like they wanted to kill it...but would have if threatened...and probably dressed it out for food.

I saw an episode of that. Five sons and two daughters. All home schooled. Seem like good people.
