A few years ago, some rare common sense happened with Caltrans that has eliminated a lot of traffic on one of the freeways across the Delta to and from the East Bay and Gay Frisco.
They widened the bridge across the straights and stopped charging a toll to go south into the high traffic areas.
Then, they really helped the commuters with Fast Track lanes after you crossed the bridge on 580 including some very fast north bound lanes for Fast Track users. Now on most week days, even during rush hours, if you are in the left lanes, you can cruise through the toll booths into 780 northbound at 60+ mph.
The rounbdabout also serves a Darwinian purpose in that it would remove the inept from the road.
