Haven’t paid a credit card for 6 months? [troll aka “foolynyah” zotted]

This advice is worth what you paid for it.

You see, after 90 days of not paying on a credit card, the bank charges it off and sells the debt along with hundreds or thousands of others to a collection agency for 1/100th of the value of the original debt. The debt buyer then tries to collect from the debtor and they keep all the money they can collect.

They will take you to court and try and garnish your wages for 6 to 8 or 12 years. That’s when you ask the court to force the new debt holder to show the court proof of ownership (paper documents) for the debt they are trying to collect for.

These creditors are buying debt with the click of a mouse over the internet and will have none of the original paperwork. The reason, it’s cost prohibitive and a filing nightmare. These creditors prefer to operate with only intimidation and threats. They gamble in getting a judgment by your failure to appear in court. SHOW UP IN COURT!

Just watch the debt purchaser drop the case and give up on collection.

Contracts are promises. If you took on debt through your miscalculation of an ability to pay it off, you can still find some job—or some second job—to pay off your debt over time.

If you so totally screw up that that is not possible, we have bankruptcy. But someone with honor will do anything—including taking on a third job—to pay creditors, rather than hose them in court.

I wish I could ride a bike.

After 2 heart attacks and suffering from Congestive Heart Failure, I ride an electric scooter because the VA doc told me I shouldn’t even try to walk.

Also, a minimum-wage earner supporting a family has all kinds of government support from EITC to food stamps to free healthcare to augment his or her income.

I’m one of those who holds W responsible not only for lots of bad decisions as president, but also for setting the stage for someone like Obama to follow him.

“Gas is about $3.65/gallon.” LOL!

In Springville, CA or Porterville it’s $4.15 unless you llive in Fresno or Bakersfield. Then watch out!

This advice is worth what you paid for it.

It also appears to be worth what your word and sense of responsibility are worth. You try to equate the collection agencies (many suck, but that's not the point) to being worse than the deadbeats that don't pay their bills.

OK

12 gallons for 3 days roundtrip

That’s 4 gallons per day roundtrip

That’s 2 gallons per day one way

At $4.15/gal that’s $8.30 per day one way.

Minimum wage is at least $7.25 per hour.

So in a little more than one hour you’ve covered your trip to work. In a little more than two hours you’ve covered your round trip to and from work.

I understand that’s about 1/4 of an 8 hr day. It’s minimum wage and you’re driving a long way. Try moving closer to town and getting a better job. Minimum wage 3 days a week is meant for kids.

Maybe you need to move to another area.

Do what you need to do.

OK

You’ve had 2 heart attacks and are suffering from Congestive Heart Failure, drive an old pickup ~50 miles to a three day a week minimum wage job.

Is there anything we need to know about so that we can help you?

"I would be thrilled if everyone just quit paying them En masse as a protest."

My Mom just passed away and we are helping my Dad sort out the bills. Its taken my wife a solid week to wade through just one credit card bill and we found out that the bank had been cheating her for over three years saying her payments were late yet they were taken out electronically. (They just changed the due date by eleven days but the electronic payment wasn't changed.)They are charging her 29.99% interest currently.

The amount of late charges and increased interest exceeds the original debt several times over. The attorney we showed it to told my father not to pay it being her estate has no money and the card was only in her name. They took advantage and as far as I am concerned the bank can go to hell!

It’s a low grade racket. When my mother passed I started getting calls from collection agencies for outstanding debts.
The problem was she didn’t have any and in her last years was not capable of charging anything. A little research in to the companies showed they are all under charges for fraud in one state or another. They are just so low on the food chain that they mine the obits and call named relatives to see what they can get.

You don’t need credit if you pay as you go.

“Minimum wage is at least $7.25 per hour.” gross.

Now pay your SS, St.Tx, Fed. TX, Retirement, Union Dues and what's left? Now pay St. Sales Tx on every item you buy and don't forget your rent.

So what?

You claimed $4.15/ga, I worked with that figure.

Are there any other factors we need to consider?

“.and what pray tell is a company buying a $2,000 dollar debt for 20 bucks trying to do from you?

Especially since they want the whole 2K.”

That company is trying to collect a debt that you have a moral obligation to pay if you incurred it. That deadbeats like make it so that companies find it profitable to sell the debt for 1 cent on the dollar does not change what you owe at all. That other companies find it profitable only if they pay 1 cent on the dollar for debt of deadbeats does not change what you owe at all either.

However, you can be sure that President Obama is happy that you are joining him in trying to turn the US economy into a third world economy.
