I’d suggest you take a look at a Savage 110. I got a nice package topped with a Nikon scope for less than $500. The Accu-Trigger is super clean and breaks like glass.
So if you’re not dead set on the 700 check that rifle out.

Did you consider taking the scope off and using iron sights?

Take a peek at the pig footage at www.huntingfootage.com. There are a few vids of spear hunts.
Have hunted pigs in SW GA for years. Have taken them with rifles, handguns, bow. Killed one with an axe once. Many of the spear hunts are only spear hunts in that the death blow is with the spear. Usually the pig is cornered by dogs at the time. It's not exactly a 12 yr old Masai boy taking out a lion. Shooting them off a golf cart with AR10 topped with gen4 NV is much, much more fun.

The old European boar spears were distinguished by a crossbar behind the head.
Without it, the boar would force his way down the length of the shaft and gut the hunter.
Pretty dangerous critters, in my book.
Don’t know if the US version is more or less the same.
